I'm really only on Howrse to enjoy myself - I used to be a competitive Fjord breeder, and this is still the home of USH's first Green-starred Fjord! But the stress and pressure of elite breeder took all the fun out of my game, and I gave it up a long time ago. Instead, I'm working hard on unicorns and training up all the horses that got left behind in my once-maniacal quest for elite horses.
I also like to theme a lot of my horses! For example, I've got an affix for my horses named for characters and places from my favorite books, The Inheritance Cycle, about the story of Eragon and his dragon Saphira. I've got an affix for horses named after America's historical presidents, and affixes for the 50 US states where the affix is the state's slogan, with horses named for cities within those states and with the first horse in each affix being the capital. So see, I find plenty of other ways to enjoy my game without elite breeding!

I do manage the equestion center Windfall Heights, but it's currently closed to outside boarders because of all the new changes.
It's unfortunately too expensive for me to board my own horses elsewhere, so I've been forced to close my center to other boarders and bring all my horses home to my own center.
I don't know whether I'll ever gain enough ground to be able to open my center to boarders again or not, but my hope is that I someday might be able to!
I do not sell my horses at all.

I am willing to buy almost any horse, although I rarely pay in passes.
Fjords, Foundations, and Mixes are my favorites, so I'll buy pretty much any one of them for 3,000-5,000e; and am willing to pay more with some negotiation, but again, very rarely for passes.
However, I also immortalize all of them, so I never let any horse in my possession die and any horse in my farms is here for a permanent home.
This really has more to do with other players accusing me of being greedy than anything. Because I am an adult, I do occasionally have passes, and this is one way I have of stating that I am not pass greedy - I refuse to buy or sell horses just for the old-age pass.
