Maximize your horse's energy efficiency with this daily schedule
For foals ages 8-17 months:
- Groom
- Play for 1-2 hours, not exceeding 18% energy
- Carrot
- Feed recommended +3 lbs
- Play until you have no less than 8% energy (you may use it all if you have a water trough in the box)
- Stroke
- Water
- Bed
For horses ages 18-23 months:
- Groom
- One hour ride
- Carrot
- Feed recommended +2 lbs fodder (1 lb for donkeys and ponies under 13 hh)
- Feed enough oats to reach 100% energy
- Ride until you have no less than 8% energy (you may use it all if you have a water trough in the box)
- Stroke
- Water
- Bed
For horses ages 2-25 years:
- Groom
- Mission
- Water
- Carrot
- Feed recommended +2 lbs fodder (1 lb for donkeys and ponies)
- Feed enough oats to reach 100% energy
- Daily activities until not enough energy remains
- Stroke
- Mash
- Feed remaining oats
- If enough time and energy remain, perform one more activity
- Bed by 10 pm with at least 20% energy (negated by Achilles' Heel)
For horses 25+:
- Groom
- Activity
- Water
- Carrot
- Feed recommended fodder
- Feed enough oats to reach 100% energy
- Daily activities until not enough energy remains
- Stroke
- Mash
- Feed remaining oats
- If enough time and energy remain, perform one more activity
- Bed by 10 pm with at least 20% energy (negated by Achilles' Heel; you may also disregard if horse is mortal)
For pregnant mares 8+ months gestation:
- Groom
- Mission
- Feed recommended fodder and oats
- Bed
