The chicken is probably a companion you received in a promo, on your horses page left side is a +sign that says add companion if you click that it will let you select the companion. Each companion has a perk when awakened.
Such as this companion (Beluga Piñata stamina: +2) so the horse would have an additional uptick in stamina when the companion is awakened (at the same time you awaken your horse)
