Hello! I decided to look into this thread because I used to crossbreed when I first started on Howrse (a long time ago).

Okay, so cross-breeding... what cross is your favorite and what do you use it for? I know some people like to try to get their horses skills all about the same. What crosses/methods work well for that?

I personally like crossing things with Hanoverians to get Hanoverians with higher GP, since 10k is the max I'm usually seeing in circulation.

I also like the challenge of pairing multi-breed cross horses with the perfect stallion to improve the next generation.

Just be aware of the following:

1. Once you cross breed, you can never breed back to pure.
2. Cross breeds do not sell as well as purebreds. Many players I know, including myself, will not buy them.
3. Generally, they cannot compete with purebreds with the same kind of stats.

I breed hanos on the side very casually, DM me if you need anything higher than 10k GP.

In terms of crossing I like to see what works to get onthe LBs for most wins, sometimes purebreds can do it but I also like crossing complimentary type horses together, like this one:

Icelandic x Vanner: https://us.howrse.com/elevage/fiche/?id=13957022

Crossbreeds arent for everyone, like WindWalker said, and its hit or miss what competitions they can win against their purebred counterparts.

I like 50/50 crosses --
I like to try and get the best skills in an area of a breed for all horses,
counting the cross breds as well as the pure -- takes time and lots of effort,
so can't do it until my puire breds I am using are good enough for my program --
so I don't have any I consider good enough -- and most are geldings,
since I don't do anything but 50/50
