I did some of my own research... If you search up the word "Pestilence" the definition isn't s sweet. It's rather depressing and sad.

The theme of the coats is a bit... sad...

Though I must say that the graphics are pretty nice and I kind of like Death and famine and war but...

There's a lot of Apocalyptic gaming options targeted to a younger audience, especially with the x-box system.

Maybe Howrse is just trying to cash in on the fad.

Personally, I think they're kind of cool - a little dark and creepy, but definitely a cool idea and going a direction the game hasn't traveled before…

Super excited about this! I had already started something like this with GA combo themes on the International server, so I am glad to see that they got the same ideadefault smiley (y)
I must admit, that in agreement with everyone else.. it does seem rather dark and religious for this game. And for that reason, I likely won't buy one. Same reason I never got the Bewitched Pumpkins. I love the 5th Element though.default smiley :)

Although the artworks are well designed and executed, I've never been a fan of creepy dark artwork. Not here nor in the RW, which given I'm an art major I've had to study many styles. But while I can appreciate the work put into them I won't be buying those. I hate sounding like so many but...***shrugs***....I'll end up with nightmares also.default smiley :s
Hmm... I was under the impression that religious things were not allowed on this site. I'm curious as to why you would create a theme that is directly out of the Holy Bible. Revelations 6:1-8 if you'd really like to know. Interesting that you'd strictly enforce a rule about religion while breaking it to make a new theme. default smiley (o)

I'll admit I think these coats are kind of cool, in the aspect that I love howrse' graphics , very creative especially for War. But I will also agree with all of you. If hOwrse is supposed to be non-religious, this going a little in the deep end. And now that I think about it this not really sending the best of messages. For most people they could look at these and not give a second thought to what they really represent (I almost did myself) . With all that is happening in this world today we really shouldn't be "joking" off of it.
While this is true, many other BMIs and Divines are already based on religion. Greek, Norse and Chinese mythology were all religions at one time - albeit not at present. And we have many BMIs named after Greek gods, as well as sets of Norse and Chinese Divines.

I think people are taking this a little too seriously O_o the four horseman of all technicalities are still a part of mythology. And we can say it seems like they're poking fun of what's going on now BUT it's not like anything that's going on now hasn't happened before. There is was and always shall be war. There was, is and always will be death. There was, is and always will be famine (Somewhere), and there was, is and always will be disease. Honestly, compared to what anyone could Google on for four horseman, the depiction of the horses we got a sneak peek of are pretty tame.

Really it doesn't seem that howrse is "joking" about it, more just moving on to different ideas they haven't tried yet and I commend them for it. It takes courage...bravery for making the four horseman kid friendly in design which they did. I formally and shall politely disagree with all who disagree with the coats under the pretense of religious reasons. I think we can take a step back and look at them non-religiously from a mythological point of view because there is no One story on them. Everyone has their own view of how the four horseman came to be. I would just like someone to explain to me how the bewitched pumpkin though treads on "black magic" or other religious reasons or are too scary because all I see is cool halloween coats that could have been MUCH more creepier if they wanted them to be.

People on the French test server did an experiment

and used 100 passes. The distribution of the other coats was kind of the same, but she didn't get a single "Pestilence" (Épidémie in French). The player "taureau furieux"s tally looked like this:
28 Death/24 War/29 Famine/3 pestilence
whereas the player "adeloo" got:
13 Death / 17 War / 16 Famine / 4 Pestilence

So Pestilence seems to be the rarest to obtain when using the item.

The picture for the BMI:

I kind of anticipated the concerns people voiced here when I saw this on the French server, and - correct me if I'm wrong - as far as I noticed, the "only one small religious icon per page" rule only really is an issue on the US server. The European servers I casually visit to train language skills (and, alright, I only made an account on the French one to sneak into their spoiler topic) don't really have that issue. Players there were posting a lot of "blingee" pictures (the animated gifs that blink/flicker/flash), so howrse restricted it. They were posting a lot of gruesome animal abuse stories, so howrse restricted it. Maybe this is a cultural difference? It would be interesting to hear from players who, perhaps, play on the Israel server or the Arabian server how they feel about it, though I fear the spoiler topic may not be the place to discuss personal feelings toward new features(?).

I can see why Pestilence would be the hardest to obtain. It can breed right? And out of the first five foals you could get a jr. Pestilence. So it makes total sense really.

@WhiteCoral - I agree with you, the Spoiler Zone is defiantly not the place to rant about your feelings (known from experience of watching this take place many times before) it's likely one of the mods could lock this topic up, yet again if this keeps up for to long. I myself did contribute to the discussion over here, and I won't deny any of it. But it might be best if we all try to stay more in bounds before something bad happens.
Please don't acuse me of mini-moding, I just don't want the Spoiler topic to be locked up again.

And forgive me if I came across mean from my term of '"joking" about today's world problems' I did not mean to be rude to howrse or anyone about this issue.

Didn't realize they weren't divines until now. Glad that I have a couple passes tucked away!default smiley (y)

How many passes will the item cost?
As I mentioned in my first post about this, the item will cost

two passes. Just like the Bewitched Pumpkin previously.

I don't know, mackenziedeer. I kind of guess it'll be a halloween thing like the Bewitched Pumpkin used to be, but that's pure speculation on my side.
+ I have to correct something, I wrote only horses at the age of 1 year and 6 months can use the item - I re-read the French original and realised, it's "only horses which are older than 1 year 6 months...." which makes a lot more sense.

I didn't even think of religious reasons when I saw that. I was more thinking that I come to this game for non-"dark" things (I listen to Metal and have fallen for Skyrim, and my writing is even a bit dark) and now they're throwing that out the roof. Bewitched Pumpkins are Halloween-themed, and I have no problem with them (I have a Skeleton and a Vampire myself). But the graphic for the item itself is dark, sorry.
(Apocalyptic themed stuff... that's really the end goal of some of the bad guys in Pokemon but at least there you stop it and everything ends up OK... And Zelda? Ganon taking over the world? Destroying it? Look at Twilight Princess, look at Ocarina of Time... You stop them... You don't stop the apocalyptic stuff on this game... And Alduin from Skyrim tries to destroy the world... You stop him... I'm not going on any other games, but I've played a lot of "apocalyptic" stuff and you stopped the apocalypse)
Just my views. Not trying to tread on anyone's toes.

Though I do thank for the warning. I was planning on buying passes and now I know I don't want to.
Sorry if it seeed like an ad... it was not i was responding to leola. She said-

and i agreed by saying that i was saving for one basically.default smiley :) There was no need to be rude about it catmaster.

I never thought of religious things when I saw these coats... I do like these coats... in my opinion they currently have better graphics then all of the Chinese divines and Winter(I'm sorry but he looks really bad)... it's what players have been asking for myself included, they wanted a new BMI coat and they got it...I just wish there were more of those coats... It would be nice if for the Seal Of Apocalypse there was a "Apocalypse" themed coat...
I love Famine and War... I do not like Death

I dont think anyone knows anything for sure. There is a rumor that water divines will be offered in the reserved sale soon though. I'm already saving up! And I'm not sure if I should spend my passes on the Seal or on the Water Divines...
