Gandalf, the promos have been repeating for years, just with varying themes. It isn't necessarily IF they will start repeating (they've been doing so for years), but which ones will come around again and when.

The pinatas have come around several times, recently I remember the flowers and the desert animals. There's the magic ride that was revamped as the summer ride recently. The lottery was a promo before it became a part of the GC. The underwater excavation dig was a desert excavation when Osiris was released. The cards seem to come around once every 12-18 months.
In the last year, the maze was the only 'new' promo I've experienced.

The two that I haven't seen in awhile (year +) are the wandering horses and the ingredient gathering promo (potions one year, baking ingredients another, and fruit salad at some point). As much as I disliked the ingredient gathering promo, it would be fun to see it again.

But by talking about old promos, we're wandering away from the purpose of this topic - what is coming to Howrse in the future!

The upcoming T....H.... is a new type of promo too...never had that on Howrse before and I am a loooongtime player from the INT server. I would have to say that the one promo I loved the most was the painting one where you had to collect cans of paint and fill in the canvas. Secondary favs were the ingredient gathering ones and the puzzles. I hope those eventually make a return!

They stopped doing the old ones, though, like the Cursed Sands, the Time Travel Cards, etc. (I can't think of any more! My brain is dead!) I wish they'd bring them back. default smiley :(

Anyways... back on topic... Any spoilers, Cyber? Have you learned enough, from testing, to tell us?
By Retired breeder, July 23, 2015 22:08:11
I am testing on International, if anyone has any questions, just PM them to me.
By Retired breeder, July 23, 2015 22:32:30
So when is the legendary horse promo going to begin? I have heard many varying dates, does anyone know the actual set date?
The actual date that a promotion starts is at the discretion of Ow and the team. Everything here is best guesses, speculation, and rumors.

Yes, I know these are all speculations and rumors. I was just wondering if anyone found stuff out that most of us didn't know. Thank you though.

They have never redone a promo with the exact same thing. But the Underwater excavation was exactly like the Cursed Sands, and the Time Travel Cards was recently redone with the Spring Rainbow cards and various other incarnations over the past three years or so. The card promo has been run at least 5 times now.

This contest is a kind of treasure hunt where the objective is to find the medallion of Amira, the legendary horse. You need to find objects on different scenes and collect points. These points allow you to win prizes.

Hourglasses:

You receive hourglasses that let you play:
►when you first log of the day (4 day)
► during grooming your horses (limited to 2 per day)
► victories during your horses in competition (limited to 2 per day)
► the black market against the pass when there is an operation

You begin with two games available, represented by hourglasses.
A timer turns while you look for objects.
There are a total of 11 items to find during a game. When you find an item:
► you earn 95 points
► a 10-second counter appears
If you find another object during those 10 seconds, you earn 15 bonus points.
There is no time limit to find the objects.

Points:
You earn points by playing a part. When you reach certain levels, you earn gifts (list available on the contest page)

Clues::
There are 5 scenes where you can find objects. At the end of each scene a clue must be found to proceed to the next scene.

Scenes:
There are 5 different scenes.
Each scene you complete gives you Amira equipment. So if you have completed the 5 scenes, you will get 5 equipment items that will allow you to transform one of your horses in Amira.

Speed Ranking::
A ranking of the fastest players is available on the contest page. There is a gift to win for first place!

History:
The chapters in the history of Amira will be released step by step during the competition for games played by the community. This way you will know all about the adventures of the mysterious Amira.

Amira
Amira is a beautiful Arabian mare. She lives in Egypt.

Some days she can hide. On days when it hides, it shows a UFO. For the lucky players, this UFO has a Chronos Timer or Piece of Cloud. To others, it gives Aging Points, Sand, or energy for your horses.

Game:: shows a special UFO if it is hidden
VIP: Automatically retrieve the leather on crops and meadows
This horse can not be sold. Note that Amira can not have foals.

I really like this! It seems like a really easy way to get this divine!

Oh, trust me, they never make it easy. You have to work for your Divines. Though a promo may sound easy, it can be very hard. But, as Cyber said, patience will help you!
Here are the 5 scenes and where the items are located.

It would be a good idea to familiarize yourself with each scene BEFORE you start it.

I really hope we get the Selle Français!! default smiley (l)default smiley (l) I love them, they're so beautiful!

It is very repetitive but it will not be easy or cheap. We are suggesting a lot of changes. Here is what Shorah has posted as possible changes. If you have any questions to what she is referring to just ask.

ShorahNagi wrote:

Based on my experience - let me see if I've got this correct:

In order to get the clue for each level - you need to reach enough points to hit the final prize level (40,000 something on section 1 for example), right?

If that's the case - I agree with those who say the text needs to be changed to explain this fact or even a little note added to the prize list for each section:

Ex. hold your mouse over the image - a small message will pop up saying:

You'll be able to find a clue towards the next area upon reaching X amount of points
(Yes, there's a pop-up saying that the clue will be there the next time you search once you hit this - but by my calculations...It took me roughly 35 times of playing the same scene over and over to hit this mark.)

I'm with those who say this promotion is rather tedious and repetitive. As for ways to improve it - I suggest the following:

1. The point values need to be dropped - By my calculations with no outside help from Passes...The minimum score you can get for the whole of this event is around 117,000 points. This is enough to get a player the clue to leave the first scene - and get the first prize of the second scene, but nothing else.

Even cutting the needed values in half would help:

*All point amounts shown for areas are the points needed for the final prize cut in half

117,000 points total to use

21,000 points for first area
96,000 points left

27,000 points for second area
69,000 points left

33,000 points for third area
36,000 points left

39,000 points for fourth area

While you still need outside help - the total amount of help needed ends up being a lot less.
~

2. The search system - I understand that the list is there to show people what they need to find, and the fact that you can only click on items on the list might help break up the repetitiveness of the promo (instead of always needing to find the pick axe, cobra, monkey, and spices first - you might get the vase, glasses, satchel, etc)

My suggestion to this would be - for the first time you play, the list is like it is now. For every time you play the same scene after that - it switches to just one big list so that you can click on the items as you please (make things go a little faster). You could even use this system for the whole thing (that is, a list of all 11 items that players can click on as they please)

It doesn't quite change up the repetitiveness, but it could speed things up - thus meaning players are less bored with it.
~

3. As has been mentioned - better explain how finding clues work. I can see a lot of players spending all their time on a screen looking for a clue before its available to be found.

I'm sure I'll think of other improvements as this goes on - but for now, these are my main ones

To add my comments.

If you did not buy any "help" you will just barely get to the second scene.default smiley :-x

Also some items are things I never heard of like the Ankh in the second scene so wasted a lot of time clicking all over to find this thing. This is why looking at the scene before starting the first time is important.default smiley :s

Thanks!
But what if you get only some of the pieces for her? does the horse you give the Amira pieces to become immortal?
By Retired breeder, July 24, 2015 19:20:33

My calculation:

Click to display
If you complete the Treasure Hunt the first day it comes out, without waiting, you will need to spend just short of 90 passes. In short, this won't be a cheap promo. If you get all the possible hourglasses in a day, every day, you could complete this promo, spending 70 or 80 passes. This is just a quick, messy calculation. Correct me if I am wrong.

I hate it that these promos- to get the divines you HAVE to use passes BIG TIME. I think they need to give us a better chance default smiley :(
By Retired breeder, July 24, 2015 19:41:33

It would NEVER be 70-80 passes. NOBODY would do that promo! It could be like 20-30, but, I think you messed something up... default smiley (o)

okapi, you said "But what if you get only some of the pieces for her? does the horse you give the Amira pieces to become immortal?"
You have to have all the pieces. Whether it will be possible to get more, later, or, not, you still need to have the complete set.

I would suggest not using any of the pieces, until you get them all. It may take a while more, to complete your collection. And, by then, your best horse will probably have been replaced. (If not, I strongly suggest getting the top skiller you can find for the price you can afford). Just a tip. default smiley (y)
