I don't quite agree that switching topics because there's a new promo is a bad thing.

However, I've been moderating chatrooms for seven years now, and the one thing I DO know about moderation is that the moment you start censoring people or forcing people off a topic because "we have a channel (or forum topic) for that" or "the topic has changed from what it was ten messages ago" you open yourself up to criticism. Conversations are neither linear nor able to be forced, and a moderator's job is not to do either. It's to safeguard those who participate in forums (or chatrooms, in my case) from bad actors or anyone who decides that civility is no longer the order of the day.

You really are punishing lady9, and not by any true sanction. You're punishing her because she was late to the party. "You didn't get here to add your two cents in time, so you need to not voice your opinion" is how your statement of "We have a new promo and the conversation should be directed at its features" comes off. The result? Some people may look at that and be so afraid to mention anything that's not immediately on-topic that creative discussion is stifled.

I hate the promo type that's coming out. That's why I'm not bothering commenting on it. However, I'm more than willing to comment on other people's feelings and see if there's potentially a way for creativity to blossom. Drawing out people's thoughts and ideas and then dissecting them in order to deepen them is far more fun than actually coming up with things on my own. I'm a writer. All my creativity goes to my stories. Helping others build theirs is far more productive.

And yes, I understand that moderators are, at their core, players of this game (or, as we say in the large chatroom I now own, moderators are users, too). Yet, Cyber, I'm not sure we've actually heard your opinion on these topics other than attempting to defend the administration/management team. Everything has just been leaks and moderative comments instead of your true feelings. Come join the actual discussion; don't try to take the high road like you aren't one of us. We may hold you to higher standards, but that doesn't mean you can't socialize with us or share what your true feelings are about the situation, divorced from your moderative persona (and yes, every moderator I've ever met has one).

lady9, everyone playing this game is "doomed" in some way if any portion whatsoever of the core gameplay changes. Nobody is perfectly flexible or has time to be so. Some of us have prioritized certain portions of the game that are more embedded in core gameplay than others, and your game will die without a goal in mind. It's the same way in life - your ambition and your desire to improve will die if you have no goal in mind, and short-term goals keep you satisfied until you've met your long-term ones. And if the admin/management team's core gameplay changes alter your goals irrevocably, then finding a new goal is the only way to keep your passion for this game alive.

I've always been a proponent that if you don't enjoy the game, you shouldn't play it. There are thousands of games on multiple systems with massive communities that are far more nuanced and developed than "click click click click click ok done with this horse next did I get an AP? no? click click click click click" and I'm sure there's at least one that will appeal to you somewhere. Don't waste your own time wasting away on a game that you feel is crumbling around you and that you get no enjoyment out of anymore.

... and I'm honestly not entirely certain the prizes motivate players. Other than P. Stones, Medals, and the occasional ok BMI, there's nothing to write home about in the actual process. Even the Divines are just not great. Not that I am opposed to whatever fragments of free stuff I can get (besides fragments, of course!). But I don't find the drive of completing trophies for rewards all that rewarding, and many I've spoken to also don't feel like they're worth it for anything other than collecting for its own sake. I do miss the beautiful trophy icons and the meticulous division of trophies, but I do feel like I'm the odd one out (I actually like this new trophy system?) on most issues when it comes to them. I do very much so agree that we should have numbers. Percent values when you start needing thousands of items become moot when 9,901 and 9,999 are both 99%. And it's much cheaper to put one GA on a horse than 99, and much easier to win one comp than 99.

If we do not speak up for ourselves, then no one else will. I remember the great Mod strike many years ago. Those Mods stood up for the players and the majority of them quit over game changes. Howrse didn't listen to them either. The changes were made and we lost some very good Mods. In all these years playing, I have noticed the same evolution in the Mods. Some of them are very good players, got involved in the forums in game discussions and were critical of Howrse when they felt strongly about something. They became Mods and all that changed. Now they toe the company line.

What ever happened to the advocacy group that was supposed to represent the players? We voted for them and everything. Seems like that program died. Why?

This discussion is not going to die or go away. Either give us a dedicated forum for the discussion or refrain from chastising the players when a discussions pop-up in another topic. Do the Mods have that power or do they need company approval to open a new topic?

I think it died because of leadership changes with Howrse and the new staff no longer cared about our opinions on the game. Look at the direction the Halo Franchise went, the new head bragged about never playing a Halo Game and it really struggled/ (Is struggling? I don't have a PC that can run it anymore so I'm out of the loop)

It's like the speculation here that whoever is making these decisions doesn't actually play the game. Agreed that if we don't advocate for ourselves, things are just going to get worse and we're going to get stepped on until Howrse is no longer recognizable.

Blast: Beach holidays

Get ready to embark on an exciting summer adventure during the new edition of the Blast event! Destroy blocks in a grid to fill the gauge. With each successful move, you'll be one step closer to winning incredible rewards!

How to play

Your goal is to destroy crystals in a grid containing 3 or 4 colors of crystals. You destroy them by clicking on a group of at least 2 crystals of the same color.

Sometimes you will find special blocks on the grid. It could be:

An item that moves down to the bottom of the grid while destroying crystals below.

An item that breaks while destroying adjacent blocks.

You can also create rocket blocks if you destroy at least 8 blocks at once.

Click on the bonus block to activate it. It helps you destroy all the blocks in the same column or the same line. The orientation of your rocket(s) will switch every time you use a movement.

To go faster, you can use the blast option, that destroys all blocks on the grid.

This blast option is free for the first time of the day. Afterward, it requires some passes.

Each time you destroy blocks on the grid, points are added to the chest gauge, but only if there is at least one move left. The more blocks you destroy at once, the more points you earn.

When there are no moves left, the grid ends, and at that moment, you will receive:

A chest that will be added to one of your available slots. The rarity of the chest depends on how filled the chest gauge is.

A cup.

The chest will be added to one of your available slots. At the beginning, you have one slot available. You need to wait to unlock the other two slots. However, if you want to receive gifts faster, you can use passes to unlock the slots.

If all the slots are occupied, you cannot play on the grid anymore until you open one of the chests in a slot to free it up.

To open the chest you can:

Wait until the end of the timer

Use Boosters

Use the key to reduce the timer to 0 for all the chests available

You can acquire boosters by logging in daily or by purchasing them with passes. Make sure to log in every day to receive bonus boosters.

Levels and Cups

The Cups' gauge has 5 levels. To increase the gauge, you have to obtain cups that are rewarded at the end of each grid.

Collect a certain number of cups to unlock the rewards for each level. Once you reach the respective levels, you can unlock the following items:

Fragments of the new divine horse, Sinbad.
 The exclusive companion: Lil' Octopus.

Throughout the entire event (plus 1 day), you can use the Tyche's Crown luck items to win fragments and obtain the Divine horse, Sinbad.

Completing daily objectives also enables you to win additional fragments.

Jackpots

Win enough cups to get this exclusive companion: Lil' Octopus.

When awake, this companion awards a bonus to your horse:
Dressage: +11

Open Tyche's Crowns and collect fragments to get the new divine horse from the series of the Fairy Tale horses, Sinbad!

With this horse, you can win the following items:

1 x Poseidon's Pack
1 x Greek Creatures Wanderer's Spirit

It is important to note that the blast event has changed.
There will no longer be mission where you are asked to remove a certain number of a particular type block or get rockets.

The only thing that counts now is just removing blocks and you get points for the number of blocks you can remove with one click.

This will make getting Gold or crystal chests much harder as you need 800 points to go from a wooden chest to a gold one, and 1200 points to get a crystal one.

Rockets still exist and getting a rocket will get you 100 points.

There is however a "skip" button that you can use to stop the wheel and get your prize immediately.

Transformation:
Cat-sith!

Cats return as the main theme for the transformation event!

It's common to say that the time spent with cats is never wasted. We have taken these words to heart, and therefore, this transformation event will be again all about cats.

The gameplay loop has not changed compared to the previous event. The only difference is the balancing: we have added an additional ingredient. The total number of ingredients is now 9.
