I have to agree that this is long overdue. It is time that all players have an equal opportunity to reach the top without being part of a monopolized team that virtually cannot be unseated. When the few use an in-game feature to gain an unfair advantage, it really cannot be seen as an equal opportunity for all players. I expect there will be more changes that point toward leveling the playing field for all players, and that is a good thing.

actually using fillers isn't a form of cheating.
when teams blup, they use there own low skilled horses to fill for their high skilled horse, unless you would prefer us basically stomp your horses to get our wins.

Of course teams have no problem with accusing players of stomping their horses - even when that player auto-comps and has no idea which other horses are in the comp.

Stomping is intentionally targeting another player - I would hope no one in this game would be so bold as to announce they are going to be engaging in this type of behavior.

with other previous teams I have been on, we purposely fill empty comps with our main blupping horse and use low skilled horses to win those comps.

Based on what was stated about fillers being a form of cheating, let's say I go and enter a comp. but I will not have any help filling as it's "cheating". I will go find low skilled horse and enter over them then to get my wins.

That is not okay to do, because basically I am stealing your horses wins and I could be entering in multiple comps. with your horse in it. This is why I use fillers, to prevent me from doing so and make it fair.

Fillers aren't hurting anybody.

Honestly though, that is just smart game play. That isn't stomping. Intentionally selecting competition you have a chance of winning is actually a far more 'realistic' way of progressing rather than 'rigging' the competition with fillers. Technically speaking using fillers artificially increases a horse's chances of winning its comps, which could in certain lights be seen as cheating the system to artificially progress your own agenda.

I honestly am surprised that nothing has been put in place yet to address that particular issue. I wouldn't be at all surprised if something was ever done to make 'filling' much more difficult.

This new change is really annoying... often, my friend and I will video chat while we are both on my account, her with co-management, and we will look at coats to use on a horse, and sometimes while I BLUP she is doing that by herself. How will this happen with this new change? It's not like what we're doing is "cheating"...

The last thing I will say is this: what if you, a big spender, suddenly get into an accident of some sort and cannot get on to activate the co-manage system (cause hey, it happens) and then you come back on to see that everything, EVERYTHING you put your money into is gone. Then what? And you had several co-managers who could’ve just simply logged on once every so while to keep your account alive. I am not spending even the tiniest cent on this game until this co-manage thing (when it happens) is taken away.

From contact us regarding the use of fillers ~

"No, this is not considered cheating - players are perfectly welcome to enter their own competitions. Please note that the system only allows players to enter 2 of their own horses per competition."

See it's not cheating, and is perfectly legal. default smiley ;)

Sure, entering two of your own horses is perfectly fine. Stacking the comps with an entire team full of fillers gives an unfair advantage over other, less experienced players trying to get wins.

And how is that unfair?

for example if I see a horse with 1500 skills, I am going to enter my horse of 3000 skills over that horse. That isn't exactly fair either, especially when that player has been trying to gain wins but can't since the skills are so low.

If I fill, I basically avoid their comps so they can gain wins, and occasionally I fill for others low skilled horses if I take their comp wins.

What’s the point in having a team if you aren’t allowed to collaborate and help each other get the wins?

As someone who lives in Europe, and most of my team mates being in the US, for a chunk of my day, I’m the only team member online. So I use co management to get the fills that I would’ve had if I were in a similar time zone to the rest of my team.

Basically, if you happen to be online at a time when the rest of your team is asleep, if you don’t have access to co accounts, you actually will end up having to enter over newer players to get those same wins - thus making it harder for newer players anyway.

If you’re able to use Co management to fill, you’ll enter your 20 empty comps, fill from your co accounts, and be done. No new players would lose comps - because it would just be fillers, and they will have plenty of empty comps to enter, because I’ve only entered 20 comps as opposed to blanketing every comp I see.

Nothing wrong with collaboration so long as all players have the same opportunities. The problem here is the in game feature is being exploited thus, creating an unfair advantage. Pretty discouraging to any new player or those that do not have access to a monopoly.

I have used team fillers to get comp wins in the past, but currently BLUP horses using only my own horses. Is it more difficult to get wins this way? Of course. Is it impossible? No.

Those saying that this change will force those on teams to "stomp" competitions to get wins are wrong. It is possible to avoid other horses being BLUPed when entering competitions. Usually, if someone is actively trying to get wins to BLUP, they make it pretty clear in the horse's name. I try my best to avoid those comps and instead enter comps that look as though they are already half filled with filler-type horses, which there are usually plenty of.

This change is NOT discouraging team collaboration. If anything, it will force teams to collaborate more heavily and actually work together, instead of allowing one player to log one to multiple accounts and do all the work to BLUP themselves without active help from other team mates.

Whilst I do agree with you there, at the end of the day, I thought Howrse was a competitive game about strategy.

The fact is all the top players were once newbies, but they developed a strategy and have risen to the top.

Sure it’s exploiting the system, but everyone can do it - including newer players with their teams. So it’s not unfair if everyone can do it and everyone does do it.

So what if you’re someone who lives in a different time zone and you’re the only team member online when you blup? So if you live on the other side of the world to the us, you’re at a disadvantage to your team mates that all live in the US.

THAT is not fair.

@x Gayoon x: I agree that is slightly disadvantageous, but this is also the US server. When you joined a team on this server, you likely new that most of your teammates would be from the US. There are plenty of European servers to join if you think this change will seriously disrupt your game.

This change is not removing the co-management feature altogether, just giving players more control over who is one their account and when. I don't see why your team mates couldn't give you co-management access when they log off for the night as they will not be on their accounts at this time anyways.

Really? Every team has a chance to be number one if they are willing to Work and/or spend a lot of money for aging points.

I already knew how to hit 100 BLUP and went back to my old International server strategy and am getting wins most of the time, if the comps are there. But due to the lower player number on this server alone you need to be able to get the fillers from a second or third player just to run the comps. I dont run beginner comps to smash new players like others do but giving new players the chance to get their wins.

I ask everyone to look into their comps and see the reality of how long some really do sit. Before our team came along Show Jump, Dressage. and Trail comps sat all the time. I only run with my highest horses to get the comps going,as well as get my AP farming done.

@or2684

It doesn't look like you are on a top team, so let me explain this better.

Let's say, I have a top Shetland pony. I am trying to blup this pony, but for some reason the skills are so high that it quailfies for the horses with skills over 6000 while my pony only has 4000 because of the way I blupped it.

This is unfair and as it is possible, it will take forever to gain wins. So then I enter my fillers that qualify for those comps and gain wins.

Not being able to use fillers is going to cause a lot of problems. More stomping will occur, comps will run slower.
@Killer1234: You're right, I'm not on a top team. However. I do currently have a line of TBs that would have GP equivalent to a top 3 TB team, so I have experience working with high GP horses and don't need an explanation about how skills and comps work.

I have absolutely no issue getting 20 wins with my TBs because I comp them BEFORE they skill out of rookie comps, Even if they do skill out, its really not that difficult to find comps to enter in disciplines where the primary skill is my horses lowest and the secondary skills are my horses highest. Yes, it takes a bit of strategy and planning ahead, but it can easily be done and its not "unfair" to expect someone to get wins without filling comps.

BLUPing to 100 is not supposed to be effortless, and constantly using team fillers to get your 20 wins is basically eliminating the most challenging part of BLUping.

I've been reading this over, and I'm just going to say this....
Click to display
I am only a member of one team, a small team with only two members that is currently inactive. We did just fine getting wins (and this is with low GP horses, around 1100, no large GPs) and we didn't have anyone to fill for us. It was just the two of us entering horses, and 99% of the time, we didn't fill for each other, we still got our 20 wins. It may take a little extra time, but it's totally possible. Entering two horses in a comp, one high skilled horse, one low skilled filler is fine, but I agree that a team taking four or five spaces from a 5 space competition, is ridiculous, and I am glad Howrse is going to discourage that team monopoly with this new co-management change, at-least that's how I've understood what I've been reading thus far, and hopefully, that's what this change will truly do.
People have gotten so serious about these teams, that they try and cut-corners to get the end result they want as fast as possible. What ever happened to putting in a little extra work and time to it? And if you can't do that, then you just have to move a little slower like the rest of us.
If I can get my 20 wins for a 350 GP foundation horse in my NIB project only entering my own two horses, with no one's help, then these large teams can get their 20 wins with high GP horses, using only two horses from a single member, manually. No more of this using co-management to speed things up. I have never agreed with that, never done that, and I am glad Howrse recognizes what an issue it is, especially for those of us who actually do things the old fashioned way. Excellent Howrse, your common-sense is highly appreciated.

@or2684 on the first page of your TB affix, you jumped over 1000 GP by using a mare which you bought from another player and covered with a horse from a (at the time) top TB team stud.

Whether you admit it or not, you benefit from teams who use the techniques you call cheating.

Just saying.

If you built your tb line from foundation up, without any coverings from top teams, then you have my respect, otherwise admit that you jumped GP thanks to teams who use fillers on co accounts.

I just thought about this just now. How many teams are gonna think about creating an account where they can just pull fillers from using a universal password?

When they made the BLUP change and our team knows what we did after, others never caught on to it.

You gotta be able to look at and study what divines do what for you and ask if its worth the price in passes or cash to acquire them in the promos, weekly challenges, or sales. Also keep a realistic goal in mind of their "payoff" time. What is the point of buying a Balios for 50 passes when its gonna be 2+ years till it pays you back in Nyx packs?
Not sure, that would be flagged for multi accounting.

@ x Gayoon x: default smiley (lol) Nowhere did I say that I haven't benefited from the work of top teams, and I'm fairly certain I never explicitly said that filling was "cheating". I have no issue with teams that work together to get comps filled, but I do have an issue with the co-management feature being abused to allow one player to fill comps without active help from team mates.

My argument is that several of you are acting like changing co-management will make it impossible to BLUP, while in reality it won't. I may have purchased horses out of the direct sales or used outside coverings, but I have BLUPed nearly EVERY SINGLE HORSE in my TB line to 100 without the use of fillers.

Ok so that makes sense. A lot of people have been saying it’s cheating, my bad.

So then my question is, why have teams? Why does Howrse have teams when they’re going to discourage us from finding new ways to work together?
