How to play?

Complete the 4 territories by unlocking roads with your cards and win gifts!

To unlock and complete a road, you need to:

➞ Unlock the horse(s) needed for the different maps;

➞ Possess and use the right number and type of cards indicated on the road.

You can only complete a new road from a route that you have already unlocked. When you reach a new point on the map, you receive the associated gift.

Join and unlock the new horse on each map to unlock the next map and a new type of card.

End of event
Once you have won all the prizes, you can restart the event. All the gifts on the map can be won again, but you will need to unlock the horses again. You will keep all the cards you have already bought or won.

Card types
There are five card types:

Plain Unlocked at the beginning of the event.
Forest Available when you unlock the related horse on a dedicated point on the previous map.
Desert Available when you have unlocked the related horse by finishing on the previous map.
Mountain Available when you have unlocked the related horse by finishing on the previous map.
Gift It cannot be used to complete a route. You get a random gift when you click on the card. It can be used whenever you want.

How to win cards?
You can win cards by:

Connecting every day on the game, with a bonus if you log in 5 days in a row.

Taking your horses for rides (2x per day).

Entering competitions with your horses (2x per day).

Buying them with Passes.

The cards you receive when you purchase them with Passes can be of any type, even if you haven't unlocked all the horses related yet.

You will always receive cards from a type that you have already unlocked, unless you buy them with Passes.

Summoning Lantern

Give your horse a companion from the Summoning Lantern family. Companions wake up during your horse's first action of the day. And they fall asleep when your horse ages. When they're awake, companions award a bonus to your horse.

Are we going to be able to buy the Season Key with passes instead of real money? Have they changed that? Because that line is exactly what I am objecting to. This is a Battle Pass. I was OK with the Premium Key in Grand Challenge events, because it was available with passes, but this is objectionable, and this is what I'm objecting to. This game does NOT need a Battle Pass with a Premium Tier purchasable with real money. This is highly anti-consumer.

It does not require real money to play.
I does require real money to gain a specific resource that will help you to gain in the ranking but you can still play without using real money.

I tested this on the test server without buying the key ( where real money is needed) and with effort and resources I was able to keep up with the best players there. Against players that buy the key I will not be as high on the ranking as others but was still able to get a lot of prizes.

My major issue with this is that this is a Battle Pass. PERIOD. It follows the same basic pattern of "fulfill basic requirements to fill a meter; certain spots on this meter give free rewards, but you have to pay real money to get all of the rewards on offer".
Howrse does not need a Battle Pass. It is a predatory type of microtransaction that this game has no need to introduce. And that is my issue.

The Premium Key on the Great Challenge was a fine middle ground to all of this. You paid passes, not real money, for the key, and you were able to get a myriad of good rewards. You can buy passes with money or earn them yourself, but the biggest thing was you were not locked out of these premium rewards because you did not pay up.

I don't care about not requiring real money to play. I don't care about keeping up in the rankings. I am fully aware that I cannot keep up in rankings without paying out the nose, and I am fine with that. That is not the issue and never will be. The game has to make money, after all.

But does it have to make money in one of the most widespread and predatory ways possible? On a game that targets a child audience, why should such a thing exist? Why make something that requires you to work hard for the thing you already paid for? And therefore punish your paying players if they do not fulfill your requirements every day or a majority of the days in the event by not giving them the rewards that they initially paid for.

THAT is what I'm pushing back against. That is what I truly care about. Not some arbitrary "requires real money to play" issue that never was or will be an issue in the first place.

you can consider it as something that could have been handled a different way. On the test server there was a feeling that it was not a good idea.

So those with money to spare will buy it and the rest of us, including me ( and yes I could afford it but will chose not to) feel that it could have been worked another way.

So in the end it will have to be a choice and as always your personal expenses should always come first.

There are three major changes to the Ascent of Olympus balance:

Many rooms have been made more difficult (they require higher stats).
We noticed that many defeats occurred around the 90% mark, and we wanted to offer a greater challenge, encouraging players to make more choices between easier and more complicated branches.

Revision of the bonuses distribution across the different tiers.
The rooms are harder, but the rewards are also better suited. You'll find 5-star Divines earlier than before and will have time to level them up. We have also tried to offer more choice with bonus proposals that require you to adapt as best you can. And we have also listened to players' feedback that the last tier did not offer enough energy, so now there is a better chance of getting it!

Adaptation of Chances for getting 3*, 4*, and 5* Divines in your starting hand for games played with Obols.
The idea here is to have more variety and to be able to start a run with good cards!

In conclusion, we could say that the Ascent of Olympus is becoming more difficult for some parts, but more fair for everybody. We hope that this will bring more fun/strategy.
