hano foals are invisible too!

Only some of my hano foals are invisible, which is interesting. The welsh foals *are* really cute though (and the purebred spanish horse foals!).

The invisible foals freaked me out this morning! I was so not expecting to see a floating mane and tail and no foal It's pretty neat though

Does anyone know which horses have been updated so far?

So... The test server is almost like any other server other then testing the new features? I mean like, do you breed, have teams, ect. , or is the main purpose of the whole server JUST to test the server?

@ghoover- yes, it's for testing new features/updates/promos before they're implemented on the real servers. I participated on one of the test servers before they brought teams & the vip account over, and basically you just do everything you would do on normal howrse except more vigorously to test for bugs and so on. It's like QA (Quality Assurance) testing for any other kind of game- they need to make sure that features work and there aren't any game breaking bugs before making the changes live.

But you can basically do everything you would do on your own game? Like breed, find good sales, or even things like congratulate people and try to improve your game? While ofcourse testing the new features.

Why did they have to change the coats? I loved the OLD thoroughbred coat with the white markings on the head.

Yeah, it's essentially beta testing. They need you to do all the things you'd do on your own game in order to make sure the changes aren't effecting anything negatively. What you do on the test server doesn't affect your game at all though- the equus & passes you're given are there for you to test features out and make sure that new features work and that old features *still* work. If you run into bugs, you need to report them and so on.

@Galania- they took a poll of all the players across all the servers several months ago and the majority of players voted for new coats. So now they are being implemented. They also needed to change the coats to accomodate the visible tack that is coming to the game (so the tack lines up correctly). The changes are permanent

I don't know why they couldn't just have both coats in the game and have half of the horses have the new and the other half the old, I meen in real life is every horse of the same breed going to look the same. And it would be a way to make all of the players on howrse happy with the coats as well(there would be at least 75% less players unhappy with the coats). Those are my thoughts on the subject anyway and its really just simple reasoning.

Galania: it takes up too much space on the server. Each horse takes a certain amount of space to produce the image and if they had multiples for each type it would take up more space. You'll get used to it eventually, just like we do everything else.

I've been on here for 3 years and while certain things made me grumble at first I got used to them. I actually like all of the coats, they look amazing compared to what was first on this server. The only one that I don't like so far is the Friesian and that's because the current one actually looks more realistic in my opinion, having seen a Friesian in real-life.

But as far as the change goes, you'll adapt. We all will, it's one of the greatest qualities in human beings (at least in my opinion) our ability to adapt and change.

It is basically just a dry run of changes they want to implement. They want to make sure they implement for real that new features do not cause problems or interfere with current features. So they basically duplicate your account for you and let you mess around with the new stuff for a bit to get a feel for what they are offering. This gives the development team a chance to gauge the reaction of a sample of the playerbase as well as using that sample to help ferret out any lingering bugs and glitches that may still be present the team themselves did not find. After getting the reaction of that sample group they can then adjust thing, fix problems and polish up coding and prepare it for an official launch across all servers.

I have tested a bit for Howrse. Aside from getting a sneak peek on upcoming features, it is really not all that interesting. So I am glad we have this forum.



Howrse offered plans the option last year to vote on a poll if they wanted a graphics update. The vast majority of those current players voted yes they did. So Howrse did what its players wanted and started developing new graphics. NO game can make all its players at any single point in time. No game is able to keep older versions in use for its player base either, whether it be general content or graphics. It takes a lot of server memory to run a game, and servers get slower with the more memory they have. Graphics tend to be the biggest gouge on server (and computer) memory a game has. Multiple version would just make Howrse's server more 'heavy' and could eventually slow the game down. Not to mention it just is not feasible. They paid a graphics team a decent sum I would bet to come up with these images, these graphics were designed to be permanently apart of the game (or at least until another update is decided on)

I understand the frustration. But all games change. Those that do not, tend to lose hold of their players after a while. I played one game for over 7 years, not one single MAJOR change in all those seven years. Needless to say, I got bored, I no longer play actively and have a feeling I will never do so again, and I used to have a /huge/ herd over there compared to most. Top player in multiple breeds and can still answer any and all questions people might have. Just nothing interesting about it (and they did update their graphics >.> only no where near as pretty or correct looking as Howrses.)

Getting 1 million Equus and 1000 passes? Not interesting? I really want to be on the test server. It is swaying my decision of getting a VIP.

If you are VIP, are the chances very high you will get in on the test server?
