It is speculated that this change was made originally on the original French servers to counter rampant multi-accounting. Unfortunately when people cheat, games have to evolve to counter cheating. Doing so can unfortunately hurt innocent players.

Personally I see it as better than the system we have now. Yes, I know people just say buy fodder to make your reserve smaller. But when you are upwards 10+ mil or even 100mil? No one has the time for that and 20% of your reserve is ridiculously steep when Howrse itself places 40k for the equus equivalent of a pass. A change was needed. There is never a solution that makes everyone happen. However, as mobile gaming becomes more and more 'normal' more and more people have the opportunity to remain a little more active then they may have otherwise. Is it is an answer for everybody? No, it never will be. But it is the answer they came up with and as we know from past changes, everything has the potential to be changed.

As far as keeping activities secret. Sure, I imagine eventually people will figure out how to gain the full 10 points, but it will take a lot of research and effort from players to find each action that contributes. It could be some are actions you normally would not make. . .for example, I never stroke in the safe haven, there are plenty of people that never bid on auctions, and it may be that buying/selling a horse every single day contributes, or congratulating on a birthday and yes, we probably eventually will. . . but ti will be a very very long time before those actions are public knowledge that everyone can tell a friend, and it could be the actions are different from day to day, or that they are liable to change as time goes by.

try asking on the french server lol theyve had it for awhile so they might actually know more about it ...i have an account there but i rarely play it

Hmm, I'm confused. Do you play a mini game each day to fill the meter, or is it just once you have filled the meter? And if it's the latter, how do you fill the meter in the first place? I know that it's by "actively playing the game" in general, but can I have a less vague answer?

Okay so is it completely impossible for someone on co-management to earn the points for the new pass system?

This is really really unfair. I was the one logging on every day for two of my irl friends to bring their senority up. I'm always connected to the internet, either by my phone or computer so I ususally just hop on and do dailies for them on here and other websites that allow it since they have busy schedules and can't be on every day. I liked the old system more . They could of still gotten the monthly pass for reserve.

But if nothing I do on co manage matters for the new system I'm already hating it.

Might as well face it...the new pass change system will have alot of players leaving due to inactivity and co-managers don't do any good. Howrse is doing this to ensure dedication regardless of a player's schedule or daily activities. They might find it chases off too many players and change it later but for now, we have to deal with it.

Actually, it is to cut down multi accounting. If you have to play for a pass, it makes it much harder for all 20 of your accounts (not directed towards anyone) to get a pass as well.

It's lousy and awful of Howrse to do this.

Co-admin has its limitations, I can only share my account with 2 people and I can't buy or sell horses when managing my friends.

Why make it so co adming someone elses account doesn't do anything to help them get the pass? It's legal. It's within tos. LilyLuvr has a very good point. I think I'll be voting with my feet and do not intend on spending anymore USD on this site if it's going to punish the far and few between who actually play by all of howrse's ridiculous and frankly insulting rules.

That's assuming I don't quit the site all together.

Why should co-management count? Ideally, the creator of the account is playing the game for themself. The game does not require daily access to care for your horses, or have fun. Using co-management to inflate one's seniority could technically be seen as skewing the rankings unfairly. It is not /you/ putting in the time, which is what the intent of the game, it is someone else. . . .in which case why bother having an account? There are very few seniority walls these days, and after a certain point there are not any

They want to encourage people to actually play the game. There are a lot of people that do just use the game as a 'social media' outlet which is not what it is designed for. Co-management is like having your best friend go to class for you, take all the notes, take all the tests and /you/ get an A for doing it. It is certainly a nice feature to let teams share their resources a bit more, but we have seen plenty of problems because of co-management crop as well.

And as already stated, it was clearly indicated on Equidow as being an effort to combat multi-accounting. And there have been very very few that still liked the 20% reserve cost of their pass (plenty do not bother with it) and would rather have had that pass be reflected on their game activity. This is Howrse's answer to those issues, but there is no way to make everyone happy.

People are of course welcome to play however they want, and if it does upset a player that badly it their choice to choose to remain or leave. The fact is, this was decided on, and Howrse has made plenty of disliked moves before that the community has pretty much forgotten about, or at the very least no longer affect us to the degree we thought they would (Vet fees >.> still the bane of my existence. . . or the outcry over the merging reserves, or the VIP account)

the new pass system really doesnt bother me for the most part but would be a pain if your having internet problem like i have for the last week or when u go on vacation and theres no internet....but i dont think itd really slow down the multi counters co wise as they can just put in the original password for an account... but the real question is how much work it takes to hit 10 points? itd be nice if you could earn more than 10 points a day as somedays im on here longer than other days

Not much. A couple of horse sales, and some horses cared for and you should have 10 points a day. You can also just care for maybe 20 horses? I am just guessing, but I know it doesn't require much.

This new pass system it does if you want that one free. I know people who can't buy them and rely on the monthly one and the use of pass horses to be able to buy divines when they go into the reserved sales or keep a pegasus account upgrage.

Under the old system all I had to do is log in once a day on any of the three accounts I play on (co manage not cheating) and all of us would be able to get the passes even with a busy real life schedule.

this new update just kills that now I can't. If they didn't want co manage to count/help out other players then they shouldn't of added it in the first place. It's punishing people who don't have the time to login here every day for longer than a few minutes to bed/groom any valueable horses like Onyx or rosette winners.

if you don't want to see/admit that I can't make you. But this is the worst idea Howrse/Ow has had since they banned art sales and cut themselves out of that market entirely since people can go off site and pay USD now for art of their horses/original characters because Ow does not own the copy rights for real life breeds. At least before they were getting profits from the purchase of passes to pay artists a mix of those and Equus.

I actually partly agree with you Hallaloth and I agree lots with L Aries. It does have some things that are better about it. I like that it will help cut down on multi-accounting and I would much rather play a game then pay equus for the pass. I will get used to it.

However, limiting it to 10 pts a day is a problem for many reasons as I talked about before and there IS a simple solution. Make the limit be weekly or even monthly instead. Why not say, you can earn up to 300 pts a month. If you do that in the first week and get your pass, fine. You still can't get another until the full 30 days has passed. Or if they really can't handle that, at least make it weekly - 70 pt limit a week and can all be done in one day. This can't be that hard to put into the code.

I also don't see any reason to make the pts unavailable to co-managers. I don't see how that will put any more brakes on the multi-accounting and I think it could have the opposite of encouraging in-game activity. If it doesn't help then people are less likely to do it and there will be overall less activity in the game. However, if they just put in the monthly limit instead of daily then I would be fine with them leaving this out. A whole month is a long time, if the original owner can't play for an entire month then maybe they don't get a pass that month, that seems fair. But as long as the limit is daily then the least they could do is allow co-manage to contribute.

And just so I'm clear. I think the obvious and best solution is to change the limit to monthly 300 pts instead of the daily 10.

It's funny Hallaloth, the main reason I didn't like when they combined the reserves is that I knew I did well with my EC reserves, and combining the reserves would mean it would become too difficult for me to continue to get that pass with 20% of my reserve. I feel like now I can get that pass again and it is truly free now.

I do like ladyhauwke's idea that it would be a total of 300 pts for 30 days. If you reach the point level before the 30 days great you would just have to wait until your 30 days were up and then retrieve your pass. I assume that even the most active players have some days where they are just unable to be on here long enough to get that 10 pts, so this would help even things out throughout the month.

I know chances are that will not happen, but even if it takes you a few extra days, it doesn't mean you can't ever get that free pass, it just may take a few extra days. So instead of getting 12 free passes a year, maybe you only get 11 or 10. As long as you are still aging up pass horses, and getting 10 passes through pass horses a month, it shouldn't hinder your game too much.

It will allow a lot of people the ability to get that extra pass.

If I remember correctly there was a big hue and cry over the merging of the equs reserve with the loss of getting that extra pass as the biggest con expressed. It may have taken over 2 years but I think what is proposed is the best compromise, while putting some brakes on other areas of concern.

What I worry about is that people unable to get on will give their co-managers their password to get around it.

I noticed on my french account under the gauge it says-

That would be true. Your total will only show up after the update.

From what I have seen in the International Spoiler Zone, it only takes a few minutes to earn the daily 10 pts. Someone said they are on Equidow and they got 10 pts after switching their meadows around and caring for a handful of horses, plus 1 forum post. They weren't online for more than 5 minutes and they had gotten all 10 pts for the day.

So saying that it's punishing people who can only play for a few minutes a day is a bit extreme in my opinion. Getting all 10 pts for the day in a few minutes is doable.

All everyone seems to be talking about is the new free pass update - but I am more interested in knowing what the next promo is. Anyone got info for me?
