I couldn't agree more with you, e73 (post from a few pages back ). While I do admire and enjoy some MMORPG's, a lot of them leave a lot to be desired in terms of player enjoyment and player/player interactions. Sometimes a bigger community doesn't necessarily mean a smarter or more productive game - the in-game fighting that goes on in a lot of MMORPG's disgusts me.

I hope that the coming changes will allow players to build stronger bonds of teamwork here on Howrse - it sounds like it's going to be implemented in such a way as to make the transition as smooth and seamless as possible.

I absolutely WILL NOT donate items and equus to only new players. NO... im not being greedy or selfish so hear me out:
Ive worked to the top 2,000th in the general ranking, i have over 300k equus, and many GAs and RCs and other good horses. I worked HARD to get here. Very hard. I will not donate anything to players that have just joined.
Its like .. the game is rewarding players that have just came, have bought NO passes, and havent worked. And NOT rewarding the players that have *Maybe* bought passes and busted there behinds to get to the top.
Again. Im not being selfish or greedy but this is my opinion.

Ok , so we are giving NEW players items and equus for free. Hmm... maybe people will create new accounts to get free stuff on?
I like the whole idea of working together and all but I refuse to give away my hard worked for items, and equus to brand new players.. Im not going too. Not at all.
Also how will they split up the equus. What if player A does nothing for the promo but player B works as hard as possible to get the promo stuff. Do Player A and B get the same amout of equus or items? If so, many people wouldnt participate and still get free items.
I see many problems with the idea but if they do tweek it or give more info, Im in!
But i repeat I WILL NOT give away anything to new players. ( players with 30 or less days of senority )Sorry!

so everyone (me) who has worked really hard on the objectives will NOT get trophies?? At all if they don't finish before the new thing starts??
I think it is kinda unfair-but oh well who am I to say anything /?!? Lol, I just feel that we deserve (us people who are in the early/medium ninetys in objectives) to get trophies for all we have done! I defeniately know I would get some nice ones too! But oh well!!

I know why Howse is making some of the newer horses (sorry) kind of weird and different! So we can buy more GAs....

I might have to make a banner for that now.

Ugh! Im so mad right now. Howrse at least give a reward to players that DID the objectives!

Also on the other side of the objective issue, I remember the riding levels, and how that system did not help the player learn about the game. I remember when we had no help starting out. You had one horse that wasn't immortal, and even if you took good care of it, it could die from a random illness. BMIs were hard to come by, if not impossible for non pass buyers to get. Passes were impossible to get. Promos were nonexistent and unicorns were new, and only the elite few had them. People complain now about how difficult it is for non pass buyers-Pass buyers make things unfair-pass buyers are cheating and the game is skewed toward them. Well, the game is skewed toward them. They pay for it. And howrse is so much more egalitarian now than it was in the early years. I dont buy passes. But this new howrse has let me obtain a HUGE collection of GAs RCs, rare companions, wilds, a hoard of BMIs, and I even have over 30 passes. I may not think the beginners will know what is going on without objectives, but Beginners were almost abandoned in the early years. I am happy with how horse has progressed. And I guess we won't be abandoning the new people. the Big Challenge gets all of us to help them, which will be better in my mind. We can all make new friends, and each party gets something valuable.

I agree with you about the people that complain about pass buyers.

Well, it'll be nice to have a rest from the constant, and often sleep-depriving promos. I can see some good possibilities in the proposed new promo-but-not-really system, though I can also see some serious draw backs in the works too. However, the blog is still a bit too vague for me to draw any conclusions one way or another.

One thing I'm surprised no one has talked about is the mysterious "extra bonus" divines will give VIP players. I for one am curious to see what could possibly be offered.

And while I'm at it, just a friendly mention that I'm also still hoping that the VIP account price will be lowered to something more reasonable.

Oh! But I really want to complete my objectives! I'm in the mid 70s, maybe I can finish in time? Also, I was breeding obj 91 horses as an income for now, and that will going away as well. I'm not really sure how I feel about these new changes, but hopefully I can finish my objectives first!

I totally agree with you about giving new players things pattiepawsitive. I'm just not going to do the objective/quest/whatever. It's not mandatory, right? I'd also like to add that some players may not want a freebie. They might want to actually work hard on the game to rise in the ranks. After all, isn't that what makes this game fun? Or at least, that's what made it fun for me. Playing around with the objectives, moving between being broke and having equus over 100000, using the exchanges to my advantage for getting BMIs, and all that fun jazz. It wouldn't feel right to me if somebody was just like "here, have some equus and/or a BMI" Maybe that's just my pride talking, though.

As rogue fire said, This is NOT going to be mandatory. You don't have to give to newer players. I don't see how it will lead to scamming though. Also, even though some people will want to give out of a sense of community or kindness, many will be giving because it will help their game. YOU get something out of it. I find it a much better solution for promos than the whole "donate to Ow" thing. That is almost a waste of e. This way it goes somewhere that could eventually come back to me. They could use the money I might have donated to buy one of my horses. Ow certainly doesn't need my money.
