Lippizan is another name for Lipizzaner horses, they come from the Piber region of Lipizza, an area in Austria.

I wonder if they will be like the real Lipizzaners? As in the only colors are Grey, Bay and Black and the most common one (something like 95%) are grey. But, they are born black and as they age they first turn grey and then 'white'.

Also, they always keep one bay in the Spanish Riding School's stables. They're considered good luck.

Lol. It would be nice if they kept the breed specific coloring. Would be cool if they adding a 'graying' factor to the coats where a majority went 'white' after a while.

Has anyone done a study on other breeds to see how close color rarity and actual breed colors actually are? That would be interesting to know personally.

I do not know, all I know it there coat is like the PSH on the game as far as shape.

Catmaster, those don't sound right. The dominant color for a Lipizzaner is grey, and black and bay would be next after that. Maybe the translations got mixed up? What did you translate this from?

Horsegirl: she's right, I saw it even before catmaster posted it. I was sorely disappointed. Howrse, perhaps, didn't do their research? I don't know, I can't think of any reason such a well known breed would have its colors mixed up like that.

There is a project going on currently that is doing genomic testing on Lipizzaners in order to better track genetics, coat variability, etc. In real life, gray is the most common coat color for a Lipizzaner. The foals are always born black or brown and either lighten to gray around six years of age or stay bay/brown if they have the bay gene. I wonder if the in-game foals will have this trait?

Lippie: I would be all over that, but I doubt it. It seems like a lot to program, especially since Lippizans are already on other servers.

Ack, forgive the way I've been spelling Lipizzaner and Lipizzan. I knew something wasn't right, so I pulled out one of my many nerdy horse books to see how it was supposed to be spelled. One P, two Zs! I must remember that from now on. Once again, my apologies.

Yeah, they're another old favorite of mine. I'll be satisfied with the Lipizzaners if they don't mess up their coats, but otherwise it'd be nice to have them. Of course, I'd like having them anyways.

I hope the Dutch version is getting Haflingers. The French spoiler was showing Hensons btw; but I don't know if that is also valid for the Dutch version.

Mackenzie: Wha- no feathery feet?! Haflingers don't look a thing like TBs! Haffies are short, stocky, pretty much every TBs aren't. Oh dear....

It would be nice if the dev team would actually get some good photos of the various breeds and use those to create the images in game - so that each breed was unique and as close to what they actually look like as possible.

They thing is, they will never please everyone. Howrse has never toted itself as 'realistic' by a long shot either. I have yet to see any Horse SIM get accurate breed graphics, ever. Howrse does better than most. . . though i would still love to see genetic variation in terms of coat color, but it seems most developers who manage most SIM games feel it is far too complicated for the younger audience they are geared towards. Remember, most SIM games tote themselves are geared towards the 10-14 year old demographic. . . Trust me when I say it makes playing as an adult frustrating at times to watch a game gear itself more towards its younger demographic and forgetting older folk play too. At least Howrse makes a decent effort at making their graphics look like a legity proportioned horse. I have seen a few in other games where you look at it and think 'realistically, that critter would snap those long spindly fetlocks' or 'it looks like a greyhound/squid'

Anyway, new breeds are fun, though I really wish they would just release them all across all servers. I want Brumbys.
