I'm glad they arent going to introduce it anymore. GA/RC collecting is one of the thing I enjoy most on Howrse, and it is mostly the same way for all players, pass buyers or not. I'm glad that, for now, they're keeping it equal.

does anyone know how foal games are going to work after they do away with the "put horse in box" and "put horse in meadow" options?
By Retired breeder, November 21, 2014 17:41:08
Good point, I did not think of that, and I just got this foal game down. default smiley :k

It is a bit premature to make inquiries regarding this.

This will come into effect well after the things we are currently testing. Since it is in the timeline for upcoming events, when we are called to test these items I am sure it will be explained then.

I am sure it will be one of the priority items as well. So for now just relax and enjoy the promo coming up.default smiley :)

I am expecting to get a ton of items for my inventory.default smiley :)

Right now, since I normally get lucky enough to have the fountain, I haven't had to worry about using the meadows or boxes when doing foal games.

Also keep in mind that when this change happens - there will be ECs that will be starting to put troughs in - and that appears to be giving a better energy boast than the fountain won in the Grand Prix.

But as Cyberhorse said - it's a little early to start worrying about it at this point. However, I don't think it will be a serious issue either.

I wish they would stop changing things that affect the foal games. It's very annoying...

I'm SO Glad they Are not introducing the thing with the RC's. That would be really unfair for Non-VIP's. They actually saw we hated It!default smiley (y)default smiley (lol)

Well it was for people that buy lots of passes, so almost VIPs.

Not sure why your comments are aimed at people with passes. Many items are won thru promos or trades. That item would have been... and may someday be...available to all of us. Pass buyers and non-pass buyers. I really don't like to see any form of arguing between those who buy passes and those who don't. Howrse has done a great job of using promotions to get BMIs to all players!

But you get the pack when you buy passes, no? Maybe I misunderstood that.

I have a feeling that particular item would not have been able to be traded, but I suppose at this point there is no way to know for sure.

Yes, I may not be able to buy passes but without those who do we would have no game at all.

I think so... But howrse has to make money somehow

You buy the pack the same way you would buy a pack of passes (that is, with real money), and the pack includes some passes with its other prizes, so you could call them the same.

The two packs they had last year had to be bought with passes bought at the time the pack was offered. In other words any passes you had in your inventory did not count.

It was a game changer for me since I could not use the passes I already had. There is no conformation this is true for this years packs but I am not very hopeful they will change the way they do things.

Information regarding EC location.

The location will alter the skill gain in the ride portion of your horses profile so for the major BLUPers this will be a hard decision.

Hello,
Yes rides take a little bit more time as you have to do two types of rides.
The only thing is that once you've finished blupping there won't be much left to do.
Completing a horse's training doesn't take much longer than before to one or two horse days close.

We've looked at the breed profiles (because it's not something that can be looked at from a single breed's perspective).
Here is a little table showing what is currently on the game and what the changes do here on the preproduction.

Their repartition varies according to the skills that are allocated to each type of ride and competition.

Here is what's currently on the game on Howrse.com:

In red the breed profiles that require 2 types of rides and competitions to complete their BLUP.
In green the breeds that only require one ride and competition to complete their BLUP>

As you can see there are 6 breed profiles which hold a large advantages over the others.

Now this table shows what is here and active on the preprod:

As you can see there is only one breed profile who remains in green.
There is still a fair bit of red profiles but also a decent amount of profiles requiring either one ride and two competitions or two rides and one competition.

And finally we have worked on an even more balanced breed profile repartition with this proposal that isn't online for the moment and that would have:

for mountain rides
Stamina
Speed
Trot

For forest rides
Jumping
Galop
Dressage

Here we achieve a global breed profile repartition that tends to avoid having over advantageous breed profiles and very disadvantageous breed profiles.

This would mean that cross horses wouldn't be as adavantaged as they are now and would also allow two other breed profiles with 2 rides and 2 competitions to only have a single type of ride instead. This seems fairer that letting the crossers have the main advantage.

With this solution we lose a by of realism in the skill gain depending on the rides but is isn't really important but just makes the skills that are related to a ride a little harder to remember for new players.

What do you think?

Concerning the amount of energy used in rides. If we adjust it, it'll be of1 or 2%. Diminishing it more would equate to ending the whole training process much earlier than now.
On top of that with the future features comes the removal of the meadow and box actions and dispatch their energy gains on other elements (feeding will maybe give a bit more energy than now) as well as the arrival of the watering trough . We would rather make the adjustments at that point rather than anticipating and doing them twice.
Cheers

default smiley :k I don't like changes. No meadow or box? Then what is the point of Croceus fortune?
These new changes make me think... Maybe they'll be bringing the boxes and medows back how they used to be in the "bed" section of the horses page... Any one else remember that? It was a while ago...

Good question as several divines also use them for their rewards.

I was also wondering how that would work with my Gemstones... Not to mention finding the tub of grease for my skillers/comp horses. I would assume they wouldn't totally discontinue the Croesus Fortune but... Who knows.
Any idea how the divines will be able to earn their diamonds without the box or meadows?
Or if we'll still be able to earn the comp bonuses some other way after the box is gone?

Thanks for posting!
Kay, so my head cannot think in terms of analyzing presently, too much creative binging this month. Someone care to break those tables down into laymans's terms? I get that it is assessing how skills are gained. But it seems to me the later tables are making it more difficult to complete the blupping process? I get they are trying to manage breed balance here. . . but if I understand this right, not sure I am liking that it will be required to do two sets of rides and two sets of comps to fully blup. When that is the case with my unicorns I usually cannot get done before age 10 unless comps are a breeze, which is rarely the case for mid GP range.
