Important information for BLUPers mostly regarding EC location choices.

A player on the test site did some testing on BLUPing time ( and don't forget the longer the time the more APs you are using.

They only used a few breeds. I am also posting her conclusions.

What I have gathered is if you are a non specialist like me it really will not make any difference to location relevant to the rides but will have a major impact on what resources you can manufacture. Unfortunately they are releasing that info later ( here I object as the order is out of whack)

Here are her conclusions.

Looks like I'm done testing I have now tested 2 breeds at the 3 locations we will have to chose from. The Vanner (stamina, dressage, jump) and the Appy (speed, gallop, dressage).

Both breeds had a big box, flax bedding, shower and all feeds available. I did not do lessons. I entered the horses in comps until I got no more gain. Primarily with focus on their top 3 skills. (Fairly close to how I'd do it on live Howrse)

I do of course realize this test is not complete as I do not know if I have enough wins to secure a blup. But the years needed to just bold the top 3, gives me a clear picture telling me that blupping will now require a lot more time than before.
If you add lessons into the equation even more so. Throwing the hole nine yard worth of BM items will of course help. But I do not heavily equip every single horse I blup. And I dare say neither does all the players on Howrse.

The results pretty much speak for themselves. These changes are going to have a major impact on our game. The breeds that does not have skills that can be worked doing only Mountain- or Forest Rides are going to require a lot more rides as well.

Bolding skills that does not fit within the new tweaks are either going to force the player to spend a lot longer to blups or switch EC in the middle of the blup in order to assure faster skill gain.

While working the blup you cannot just race ahead and work rides as soon as the horse is old enough. If you do certain skills will be way too high, and you will struggle to get wins.
I do of course realize that this is already the case on live Howrse. But these new rides makes it even more time-consuming.

The fact that half an hour rides now take 8.1% energy is a major annoyance as well.

Does anyone have any information or proof of Ow choosing a new mod?
I don't think here would be the best place to discuss that, even if we did know.

catmaster is right. Who and when a new mod is chosen is NOT a players concern at all. Not only that but it has been plainly stated many times that any player asking to be a mod will never be considered.
I'm sure whenever they make a decision as to if/when they will be choosing a new mod they will let us know.
When and IF we search for new mod, it is never announced to players. If player were inlormed many would try too hard to be noticed which might actually end up with warnings.

Thanks the 3 who helped me on that! I can't qualify anyway, I am too young!

Yuck, this will be a pain for uni breeders who go for 100 blup before breeding. I am assuming this was done without a timer? If it was /with/ a timer >.> there goes my game getting anywhere anytime fast.

My thoughts too.

I am thankful for the player that went through all that work to help everyone.default smiley :)

I believe it was done without a timer.

I breed my mares along the way, just because some of them are already so low GP they might die before giving me a unicorn the other way. I don't keep any unicorns they give me though unless it's actually a decent GP... but even so this sounds like bad news. I think I'm going to rush and finish BLUPing any of my permanent brood mares before they "update" the rides.

So um...could somebody please explain to me just how the new ride system will impact certain breeds? I do Connies on the Aussie server, so that's what I'm the most worried about. For some reason, my brain doesn't want to interpret the data that's been presented. default smiley :-x
It sounds like each equestrian center only has one type of ride (Forest or Mountain) and it sounds like each type of ride represents three skills. So, if you are blupping a horse and that horse's top three skills aren't all covered by one ride, you'll have to switch to a different EC during blupping to get all of the skills necessary, which means blupping could (and will) take days, if I'm interpreting that correctly.

Not quite.

All rides that you presently have will be there.

What is different is the LENGTH of time it takes to BLUP will be shorter or longer depending on the EC location.

So if you have say a TB where gallop is important and pick an EC which BLUPs faster under TROT it will take you longer to get the most important skill done.

In that case, I'm totally confused. You lost me, lol. That doesn't make sense. (Not just what you said, the whole idea of it). I sure hope it's easier to understand once they actually introduce it, because I have no idea what's going on at the moment. Thought I had it, but apparently I do not.

Well, that just sounds really poorly designed. default smiley :s

I think I've got the basic concept. So, each EC can either be in a forest or on a mountain; forest EC's give out speed, trot, and gallop; mountain EC's give stamina, dressage, and jumping. Now, you can all types of rides at both types of EC's, but certain rides will take longer. Essentially, you get a "Chronos' Timer" effect- if you're boarded at a mountain EC and do long jump rides, your horse will gain skills twice as fast. You can still gain speed and all that, but it'll take way longer. That's the basic understanding I have of this; hope it helps.

That is the best description I have heard from any person about the EC choice and essentially that is correct.

If you chose the beach for example the beach rides you normally do will go faster and the other two will more or less equal out. So for the non BLUPPer or specialist that would be a good option.

It is the one I am taking. My only problem is I have no idea just what resource that choice will be as that does not come up until later.default smiley :s

This was posted on Int regarding the length of time I have been referring to.

Player--I just did a test blup on a TB in a Forrest EC (that boosts the speed rides). Shower stall with flax bedding.

Normally I can have a TB bolded with wins comps done by 7 yrs 2 or 4 months. With this one, it took me to 9 yrs and 2 month. An extra TWO YEARS! This is aweful. Terrible, horrible, and not fun. It's going to take a newbie, without a shower stall, until 14-15 yrs to bold and blup a horse, if they're lucky.

Not looking forward to these rides at all, but I'm hoping to adapt to the change fairly fast. It's remarkable how many things are being changed all at once! default smiley xd

....EW. I'm worried about how the extra time will affect my foundies on the Aussie server. For a lot of them, I need to get the bolded/BLUP'ed as quickly as I can, and having to tack on an extra 2 years is kinda ridiculous.
