Sorry Cyber, I tried to fix it for you, but the coding is correct, so I am not sure why it is not working. Either that or am completely blanking on on some key component.

Is our test server open now? I would like a little more clarification on boxes/meadows. I get what they are doing, simplifying it so so we do not have to deal with time selection and such. I like the idea of feeding our horse being that simple and that meadows will allow for our center's resources to even further be saved. . .but, I know I used the meadow/box for energy game between actions a lot of the time. Does feeding still only take half an hour/ And what exactly is the energy gain increase?

Oof that's a lot of changes to get used to! Hopefully once folks are on the test server, it will be clearer how to juggle all those changes because right now it seems like a lot. Not sure how interested I am in the EC stuff now (especially with all these changes), though it must be exciting for folks who do like the EC management side of the game.
By Retired breeder, February 9, 2015 19:19:25
I enjoyed it until the changes, honestly. But eh.
OK the English test server is open.

Just so we know what is coming NEXT month ( so not currently check here

Equestrian center prestige

These changes will take place towards the end of March
daphnealaurels
Water troughs and 3*** equipment will be taken into account when calculating equestrian center prestige.

As is already the case with showers, water troughs are taken into account in the equestrian center comfort rating. You need one per box in order to receive the highest prestige value. So head to your workshop and get to work!
3*** equipment provides the best prestige value; 2** equipment is no longer sufficient. So head to your workshop and get to work!

Draft horses

These new features will be released in May
trait
Two draft horse breeds are added to the game!

Draft horse breeds work in the same manner as donkeys, meaning they can breed three times in their lifetime.
They behave the same as other horses (BLUP, competitions, training...).
Mission earnings are twice the earnings of a regular horse: they earn twice as many skill points, twice as many Equus and bring twice as many resources or Equus to the equestrian center.
Players can submit creations for draught horses in the creative space.

What's next?

The equestrian center overhaul is almost done!

We will make the final adjustments as we go.

Stay tuned...

Here is what will be tested.

Missions

Click to display
Missions are both interesting for an EC as well as for your horse.

The old way the Lessons worked is changed:
starting at 3 years old, a horse can perform missions, they are defined by the manager of the EC where your horse is boarded.
There are two types:

- Lessons
- Resource gathering missions

From the EC manager's standpoint:
- Decide of the proportion of lessons and resource missions your boarders can perform.
depending on this proportion your boarders will be able to do one or the other.

- Play and adjust the proportions according to the number of boarders in your EC and the number of missions they accomplish to avoid overstepping your resource renewal rate.

- Define your priorities according to your preferences, economical strategy, resource gathering or a mix of both?

- Increase the minimal skill level of your boarders to gather more resources.

All of this is handled and configured in your EC's office.

Trick: The default setting for repartition between lessons and resource gathering is set to a 50/50 ratio. If this doesn't suit you, you can modify these settings in your EC's office.

Maintaining your Installations..

Click to display
Your installations wear down with time, you can then repair them thanks to resources.

Which installation are concerned?

- boxes that wear down of 1% per day if occupied
- workshops that wear down of 1% per day, regardless of their use
- greenhouses that wear down of 1% per day when they are in use

They can be repaired starting from 75% of wear. When one of them is completely worn down, it is impossible to use until you fix it.

To perform repairs, you'll need resources. The amount of resources that you'll need depend on the amount of wear, the quality and the enhancements of the installations that are concerned.

This means that you'll need more resources to repair a large workshop worn to 80% than a small workshop that is 20% worn. Also repairing a box with a shower will ask for a little more in resources than a box without.

Trick: A box isn't destroyed when it reached 100% of wear . Now the box is deactivated until it's repaired. It can't host any boarders and doesn't count for your EC's prestige.

Greenhouses

You can own as many as you like. Like meadows, workshops and boxes they come in various sizes. when they are in use, they count as a crop, however you can't raise cows in a greenhouse. This means that you can simultaneously grow 6 crops in winter, when previously only one was possible.

They wear down when you use them and are no longer subject to fertility.

Trick: The yield of a greenhouse doesn't depend on their amount of wear, they are always at maximum yield.

Building what you need

Click to display
Gather resources and build what you need in your EC's workshops. Buy and sell to the store to earn equus.

Resources

New resource are making their appearance on the game:

- Iron, sand and wood are found during missions depending on the localisation of your EC. (Beach, forest, mountain)
- Leather by raising cows

These new resources, as well as the ones already available on the game allow you to build the things you'll need or to sell them to earn equus.

A few examples:
Leather allows you to make saddles, bridles, bell boots. Flax is used to make textile equipment like saddle pads, polo wraps.

Trick : For 30 days you'll be able to switch your Ec's localisation at leisure to test the various possibilities.

Workshops

All these items are built in workshops.
To help you get started we are offering everyone a little workshop. If you want more or larger ones you can either buy or built them.

The higher your prestige, the more workshops you can have running simultaneously with a maximum limit of 5.

The larger a workshop, the more items you can build at the same time.

Trick:

- From now on mashes and fertiliser are also made in your workshop and no longer on the meadow's page.

- If you cancel the production of an item the resource that you used are lost.

Buying, selling and speculating

Once an item has been built, you can either use it for your own need or sell it to the store.

The price of items that are manufactured by the workshops are subjected to price fluctuations according to offer and demand.
Depending of the moment you chose to put them up for sale the price can be higher or lower. The higher the price of an item the more interesting it is to sell it. The lower the price of an item the more interesting it becomes to buy it.

You'll need to get all the base resources you cannot gather or harvest from your own EC in the store.
Thus if your EC is located in the forest you shouldn't have too many problem with wood shortages, on the other hand you'll need to buy sand in the store to have all the resources to build boxes.
You can also decide to simply buy a fully built and ready to use box. This will cost you more but will be faster.
Up to you to decide which solution suits you best

Gathering leather

Click to display
Leather is a resource that mainly allows you to make saddles and competitions bonuses.

You can get leather by raising cows in a meadow. The larger the meadow the more cows you can raise in it and therefore earn more leather.

Two different qualities of cows exist. You will get more leather with Longhorns than with Bradfords.
(shar-pei cows? default smiley default smiley ;))

The meadows where you raise cows count for the number of crops you are growing simultaneously.
Therefore we've increased the number of meadows you can use to grow things on at the same time from 5 to 6.

You can organise the way you want to handle your crops as you wish. You could have six meadows full of cows or 4 meadows with cows and 2 with crops or only crops.
If you have six meadows for raising cows you won't have any meadows available for growing something else.

If your EC's speciality is Western riding:

- You earn leather when your calves are replaced. Their price has therefore been slightly increased.
- Bradford calves bring the difficulty of your cutting up to 4 points instead of 2 previously. If this type of calf is the one you use for cutting, the amount of calves has been divided by two and rounded up.

Feed and water trough

Click to display
The feed and water trough are *enhancements* for your EC's.

- The feed trough is placed on your meadows and allows you to increase your leather production of 30%

- The water trough is placed inside a box and multiplies by 4 the energy and morale gained when your horse has a drink.

They can either be built in your workshop or bought in the store. Up to you to find which solution you like best.

For the moment the presence of a water trough in your boxes doesn't count for the EC's prestige to let you buy them progressively.
Later they'll be included in the calculation of box prestige.

Trick:
Howrse is getting a little bit more modern! Your scarecrows have evolved into tractors. They improve the yield by 50% like before.
All the *enhancements* for your EC can be sold back to the store, showers and tractors are also included!
- The water trough's bonus also works on the fountain.

Change in horse actions

Click to display
Change on your horse's go to the box or meadow actions!

The put in the box or in the meadow button on your horse's page have been removed and their benefits have been combined into other features.

Why?
- These actions with their drop down menu or cursor selector were a bit complicated and time consuming
- If you are in a hurry or have a lot of horses the time saved will be interesting
- It is possible to benefit from the box and pasture differently, they'll still be beneficial for your horse's well being.
- It centralises all the feeding actions in a single place, avoiding some weight issues.

Feeding your horse

Feeding your horse is now done only via the "feed" button. You earn more energy thanks to this action than previously.

The prestige of the pastures your horse is grazing in, allows you to earn part of your horse's feed for nothing. If fodder is provided by the EC the fodder your horse will have been given by the meadows isn't taken in the EC's stock.

The seasons also define the amount of free fodder: There will be more in spring than in winter for instance.

The cursor selection system becomes the only one applied because it can inform you of the amount of fodder taken from your inventory and the part of fodder provided by the EC (either from the pasture or stock).

Trick: You can still use the drop down menu to select the length of rides or training.

Bonuses and treats

The bonuses (comb, hoof-pick, tub of grease) can now be found while doing missions.

Treats (carrot, apple, sugar) and going to the meadow to unwind with horsey friends are now linked to the "feed" action.

Bedding

The bedding used in a box plays a role in the amount of energy used when foaling.
Your mare will use less energy if her bedding is made out of flax rather than straw.

Divine horses

The way Longma, Opal and Quartz work have been slightly changed to follow these new modifications. If you own any one of the three we recommend taking a fresh look at their descriptions. The gifts they give haven't been changed.

Employees

Click to display
The employees make the game easier and help you make your EC efficient.

The Secret Market is removed completely.

The items it used to sell can now be built in your workshops or bought in the store.

A new feature arrives on the game to help you make your EC more efficient: The employees

The employees are available under the form of renewable one month contracts for one pass or ten diamonds.
There are 11 different employees, they all have different ways of impacting your EC.
They can improve the crop yields or reduce costs.

For instance a trainer make it so that the competition with the least prestige isn't included in the calculation of your competition prestige.
The market gardener allows you to improve your greenhouse's yield of 20%
The saddles reduces your leather needs for item production of 25%

You can have all of the types of employees active in your Ec at the same time. If you get several contracts for the for the same employee the durations add up. The activate automatically when they are bought.

To let you discover them and their benefits, for roughly two weeks they will be flying around the site as UFOs.
Catch them and enjoy 5 days worth of contract.
You can also find UFOS with all sorts of items that have something to do with the EC: feed troughs, water troughs, tractors (beware of this one if you catch it in an UFO it's heavy... default smiley default smiley :p),
iron, sand, leather...

Quick summary of the above.

Click to display
Craft what you need

atelierpetitGather resources and craft what you need using the workshops in your equestrian center. Purchase, sell and send items to the store in order to earn Equus.
Resources

New resources have appeared in game:

iron ressourcefer, sand ressourcesable and wood ressourcebois can be obtained from missions depending on where your equestrian center is located (mountain, beach, forest).
leather ressourcecuir is obtained from raising cows.

These new resources, combined with the resources already available in game, will allow you craft what you need and can also be sold for Equus.

A few examples: leather and iron can be used to craft saddles, bridles, bells...; flax can be used to craft saddle cloths, polo wraps...

Tip: for a period of 30 days, you can change your equestrian center location as often as you want in order to test the various options available to you.
Workshops

All these items are crafted in workshops/ You just received a small workshop to help you get started. If you want more or larger workshops, you can purchase or build them.

The higher your prestige, the more workshops you can have running at the same time, up to a maximum of 5.

The bigger the workshops, the more items you can craft simultaneously.

Tip:

from now on, mashes and fertilizer are crafted in your workshop and not on the meadows page.
if you cancel a production, the resources spent are lost.

Purchasing, selling, speculating

Crafted items can either be used to fill the needs of your equestrian center or horses, or sold on the market.

The price for manufactured items depends on supply and demand. Depending on when an item is put up for sale, its price will fluctuate. The higher the price, the more attractive it is to sell. The lower the price, the more attractive it is to purchase.

You will have to purchase raw materials from the store if you cannot gather them, or purchase the finished product directly. For instance, if your equestrian center is located in the forest, the store will help you obtain sand, which you will need to build boxes. You can also decide to purchase a box that is ready for use. This last option is more expensive, but faster. You decide what's best for you!

Since testing is now open. When going on missions, I understand we still get skills for our horses and have the opportunity select equus or resources. What I am not clear on. . . who is getting those resources? The Center? Or the horse preforming the mission? Or is it split between the two?

Also, How long is Howrse saying it is going to take to grow our cows?

Thanks for giving the detailed breakdown as you get it!

I'm confused about showers--- I have spent over 500,000e on showers and many other people have spent a LOT more… will our showers automatically be replaced with troughs?

Showers are not leaving. Troughs are being added and to get max Prestige you will have to shows and troughs in each box
