I don't have any of the seasonal divines which I've always been okay with. I now wonder though, should I at least have one.default smiley (lol)
One more thing. Feb 19 seems to be the target date for the first of what is under my last spoiler.

That's a LOT of divine releases all at once... There's quite a few I'm missing I'd like to get to complete my sets butt here's NO way I'll be able to afford them because they're coming back to back. default smiley (n)default smiley (n)
Doesn't seem right to release them all together, it'd be nice to have a break in between for the players who are trying to complete sets. Not all of us can just run out and buy a ton of passes every time there's a release... default smiley :@default smiley :@

Thanks for the heads up though.. Just wish they'd slow it down a bit. Definitely agree on the promos. I've come to depend on them for the BMs and things but there's too many divines to keep up with... Just my opinion. No wonder players are complaining about it
Personally do not mind the GC at all, and the promos have slowed down a lot. As far as the Divines go, it makes me wonder what Howrse is aiming for at present. They have been building sme of these sets a very long time. Either they are looking to make some drastic changes, or they simply starting a new 'cycle' of divines. I had noticed that the latest 'sets' they have been realizing are much smaller than the first few they had started waaay back in the day. So it will be interesting to see how things play out.

I agree completely gypsyboots. I've barely managed to scrape by with my passes from selling RCs. How do they expect me to get 15 passes together in one go!?

I do realize I do not have to but them, but its my game goal to get one of each Divine set and goals are what keep the game fun!

I agree. Players don't have a hope of keeping up unless they have a couple hundred passes to blow through... Seems Howrse would want to spread them out so they make more money. I know a lot of players that won't even bother buying any, even though they would have if they could afford to complete their sets. I guess they figure it's not worth it if they can't finish them so they're not even trying. Bad decision Howrse default smiley (n)

It might not actually be a bad decision... Taking them out of the Christmas packs was a bad decision; who is going to pay that much for such a small Divine choice? Exclusive Divines that they put in balanced that out a bit, but still... I'm sure I would have bought one if they still had the other Divines in there, if I could have afforded it. I definitely will be able to afford one this coming Christmas, but won't if that's what they'll do again.
And I might buy ten passes, if I can ask my mother to do so. But that's it. I usually only buy them if I need to renew my VIP account and don't have the pass horses.
So we have the faxi's in Reserve Sales - rumor that more of the Mytholigcals will be in TCs - if you reach level 7 and now the seasonal divines in Reserve Sales.

That's a LOT all at once.

Plus the upcoming update.

I don't mind the Great Challenge (I do like getting the extra BMI's) - but as a person who tries to get all of the divines - I really wish that aspect would slow down. I want to suport the site - I completely understand that money is needed to keep the game running - but at times it almost feels like someone is trying to get as much out of the players who are wiling to spend money as quickly as possible.

I've never been all that interested in the divines but the Balios, Croesus, and Xanthos are ones I'd like to have. I'm just not going to waste who knows how much money on just a chance of winning one of them. I think putting them in the Titan's Challenges is a bad decision. I would actually buy one of the bigger pass packs for those divines (100 passes aren't cheap either) but I'm not going to waste over a hundred dollars with no guarantee that I'll walk away with anything more just a handful of BMs I could have bought myself with the passes or ones I have no use for.
Slow it down Howrse! Some people actually want to keep up with the sets, but you're making it impossible. Release the rest of the mythological in reserve sales like everything else, I can't be the only one not willing to waste money on a 'chance'. And Level 7?!? Come on... The other divines during the Titan's Challenge were won on level six... Why make it harder so people have to spend more money??
Nope... I'd love to have them but I'll be sitting out on those. I can't waste that much on a chance. If they were in reserves then yes, I would actually buy the passes for them. Not for a chance though... default smiley (n)
this is just a thought --- I've been pondering all this lately ----

I think that they will still have the divines -- this is a free game (meaning no subsciption needed) but --- the divines make them their money -- ok, here's a thought --
they separate all the divines out into "packs " and sell in the big December thing they've done for 4 yrs -- maybe not all the divines at one time -- we may not see some of them for a couple of years, but time and effort wise -- as well as money wise, they've invested too much of their time and money (employees have to work and be paid afterall) to NOT re-release the old divines at one point in time --- I don't know when or how, but they'd lose a lot of money by not giving players what they wanted

we all need to be patient and just see how it all comes out

I completely understand howrse's decisions. The newer pass buyers don't have the old divines, and will buy passes in order to get the more valuable one, particularly Hrimfaxi and Gullfaxi. I suspect the lack of divines was one of the key reasons why babydOw and dragOw got taken down.

Exactly!
When I first started playing I couldn't afford to buy passes and never had any divines other than one very lonely Greyfell I won when they first came out. After coming back I really wanted to complete the divine sets. I've already missed the Solars (All of them) and the Winds (Only have Caicias) so I'd really like to not miss any of the others but I don't see it happening right now. The Christmas pack I splurged on was a big deal, buying another large amount a month later isn't possible with my budget.
It really does seem like they're trying to get as much as possible in as short amount of time as they can... Why? I don't quite understand it, especially since there's going to be passes spent once the new EC updates come out. I realize Howrse is a business and people need to be paid but come on! Getting a little greedy there much you think??
I don't mind buying a few passes now and then but if I'm going to spend them I think they should release them in direct sales and not the TCs. Too much wasted on just a chance when players have been waiting for those divines specifically to come back for I don't know how long. If you've missed the Christmas packs the past few years, I'm sure a lot of players still need those.
And for the Balios... What if we actually want to be the original breeder of all of them?? IF we get lucky on level six, do we get to choose which one we get? I have one Lightning, I don't want doubles I'd like one of each of the rest. When the Fallas came out (In HoPs I might add NOT the TCs.) it was totally random, which means if they do the Balios the same way it would take an un-Godly amount of passes spent to be the original breeder of all of them. NOT cool... default smiley :k
I would prefer reserve sales as well for them - not the TCs. At the worst - HoPs - but reserve sales would be much better and I would probably get all I could afford - even buying some extra passes to complete sets.

Instead of trying to gouge (and putting into TCs and even HoPs is gouging) - put them into reserve sales - definitely would get me to spend more money if they were there for a set amount.

I have always fond HoPs to be unreliable. I simply cant spend many passes in a row and have no guarantee, like buzyb said, that I wont get anything valuable. It just doesn't seem fair!

Think about your budget you were talking about--- you have to keep a budget because the amount you get paid, I assume. The way that howrse is run is so that their employees can make money, I can't imagine they have a huge profit. What you're saying is a little bit of a paradox-- basically, I get paid a small amount, and don't like it, but I encourage others to be paid a small amount as well! That is why I save my real money for real horses-- o I don't have to worry about it.

The thing is, Owlient isn't actually a company anymore. It's Ubisoft. And I've got Ubisoft games on other platforms. This isn't their only game. And this isn't their only kind of game.
But with this monopolizing, isn't it sorta like Bethesda? Work on the ESO and not ESVI, like everyone wants?
DREAMER1127 - I understand what you're saying - but the problem here is that Horwse is basically a free game and the vast majority of the players on here CAN'T buy passes but very, very rarely. If Howrse starts pushing the people who are willing to budget money (with an occasional splurge) into not spending because they are doing too much too fast - then they will actual lose more in the long run.

It's a balancing act for stuff like this - if you don't have people willing to spend the money for wahtever reasons - real or perceived (remember reality perceived is reality achieved) then they stop making money.

True. I guess its up to people to have self control and stick to the budgets. Howrse has got to do what it's got to do.

I didn't and wasn't trying to say any such thing. There's lots of people in the world that make more than I do and I'm happy for them, I don't begrudge anyone earning their living. My point is, personally I can't afford to buy two large packages so close together and I'm sure I'm not the only one. The Christmas pack I bought was the largest one available and around $250 so no, swinging another $125 to buy more not barely a month later doesn't fit into my budget and I'm sure I'm not the only one who bought those packs that can't afford to do so soon again.

I never said I was paid a small amount, I make a pretty decent living but I'm also in the middle of starting my own business, a new niece on the way to shop for, a new car still under loan I've only had a few months I'd like to keep, yearly shots/immunizations for all four of my cats due this months and a significant other whose birthday is in a couple of weeks. Spending for a game is on the low end of my priorities at the moment but it does frustrate me to have spent as much as I have towards the game and end up missing out on one of the things I'd set as a goal because Howrse has decided to release everything at once. You don't think they make a huge profit?? Of course they do. Just on this server alone I know players who buy several of the hundred pass packs every month, and that doesn't include all of the other servers or even the players who buy a few every now and then. As it is they're going to alienate the players who do because as buzyb said, why bother wasting the money with no guarantee they'll end up with the divines they're after?? They release all of these divines all at the same time and instead of generating the revenue they're after, they're just upsetting the very people that pay to keep the game running. As someone who has bought a significant number of passes just in the last year alone, I feel I have the right to speak about it. Someone who doesn't regularly buy them, it wouldn't make much any difference to anyways. The players who don't buy passes and depend on their horse sales to earn passes, where do you think those passes come from?? The players that do buy passes support the game for everyone.

If you push away the people who are willing to spend the money you're just going to lose in the long run even if you do wind up making a few dollars in the short term. Expecting people to pay passes to keep their EC at the top and then sending out all of the divines at once will just cause people to spend less money, because I don't know anyone who's going to go broke in real life trying to keep up with a game.
I will just point out, regardless of price or chance games always have their big spenders. I played an MMO for a while that had their own version of 'Hops' with sooo much junk in them a few nice ticket items and the occasional 'promotional' item >.> and you would not believe the amount of those high end 1/1000 chance items would end up on the market and plummet the last few days that particular sale was being offered. Or their own type of 'reserved sale' To put it into somewhat perspective the amounts some of these people would spend on ONE sale would amount to about, if we say 10 passes ia $15, would amount to 140 passes to get 10+ of the exact same 'reserved sale' that would amount to something like Hrimfaxi, useful but do you really need 10+ of the them? Especially when you have a limit to how many things can exist on your account?

Gaming companies always have outrageous spenders who spend /just/ to spend and have everything, no matter what it takes. I would imagine even Howrse has its handfuls of people that do not necessarily spend responsibly, gaming companies know these people exist and take advantage of that fact, knowing that other, responsible, and casual spenders will also bring them to their bottom line anyway.

Anyway, lets remember that this is the Spoiler Zone, a voiced opinion on topic is fine, buts lets try and keep these out of the realms of frustrated grumbling. I do understand the frustration, I have wanted a Balios a while and will not be going for one either.

default smiley (y)Yeah I get it. I guess howrse is trying to push the big spenders by releasing so quickly. Because, as you said, the big spenders will always spend.
