So it seems the main reason is that it is too small for most people to use, with a little bit of being just used to the drop down boxes......I can understand that. They really could make the font a little bit bigger I do agree. Thanks for the insight on this guys!

I absolutely agree Cyber, why fix something that's not broke?default smiley (lol) While I'm not a fan of drop down boxes, I can put up with it very well when I have to go blup on co man with someone who does like it. Hopefully admin will listen to you guys on this part for the sake of those it does bother or have difficulty with the string of pearls method.

I really just don't understand why auto-feed is a VIP perk and not for everyone. Both the pearls and the drop-down are clunky and hard to operate in their own ways and it's hardly like feeding your horses is some big goal/project players are spending passes on (like the GP race or coat collecting). Giving it to everyone would make the game seem so much sleeker & professional, as would some other perks such as the little check boxes to move horses from place to place.

What's auto-feed?
I disagree about auto-feeding not being an advantage. It is as massive advantage for players who are actively blupping, skilling, or going through large numbers of horses. In other words, serious players - who were the main target of VIP in the first place.

VIP doesn't cater to the casual player and you're right to say that feeding a few horses with the drop down menu isn't a big deal. But feeding hundreds? Feeding the same horse repeatedly while speed blupping? Big difference.

The system in place for non-VIP members may not be ideal, but the perk really is in place for a reason. I'm reminded of this every time I'm asked to manage a friend's account who does not have access to it. It makes a huge difference.

It's one of my main reasons for keeping my VIP active.

I do think it makes a difference but I think it's an odd thing to use as a perk since it's an interface thing. They shouldn't intentionally make it hard to navigate Howrse to encourage people to buy VIP, perks that give a boost in areas such as coat collecting or the GP race make more sense. Which they do have.

Just my opinion, I don't mind hearing counter-arguments.

Is there new contests coming up?
The auto feed apparently is available for non VIP holders via an Iphone or whatever you call them things ( I am very old fashioned as I don't even have a cell phone, probably the only person on the planet that does not have one..default smiley (lol) )

But even with the auto feed we still need to select the oats as it is never correct. If you didn't adjust it you horse gets skinny very quickly. default smiley :-x

Nothing until March. The GC is going to be very irregular this year because of the EC changes. And even after this update coming there is more changes planned with another that is known to come up in May.

You might be, my grandparents share one. But the last time I went over to there house I saw "Siri for dummies" on the shelf - I say better not to have a phone at all than one you cannot figure out how to turn on, the first way is cheaper. I've tried playing Howrse on mine, it doesn't work particularly well. They've tried really hard to make the app user-friendly with the big buttons and everything, but it's just easier to use a computer with a nice large screen and a mouse. Touch-screen is intuitive but slow.

I do the oats for BLUPing horses, but not for AP horses. I have my horse page set up so that the lessons is right below the care block and I have Rain, so four clicks per horse and I can move on - Lessons, groom, feed-feed. The page customization *is* very nice and I agree with it as a perk.

Regarding costs in general.

I am posting another post mad by the player that gave you the pros and con in general ( under my spoiler). This is a very realistic overview ( and you can see why I blew through so much equus) on the costs and please be seated when you read this.

I just repaired another box. 76% wear and tear.
Guys seriously I will go bankrupt with these changes in a very very short time.
38 wood, 38 sand and 19 iron. I had no where near that amount, so I had to go buy them.

38 wood - 380
38 sand - 380
19 iron - 190

that is 950e to repair just 1 box. And that being with the amount charged per unit being frozen.

I currently have 182 boxes. Repairing those alone will cost me 172.900.

To get going I'll need at least 1 big workshop.
Thank you for giving us a small workshop - yes I wanted to add something positive lol default smiley default smiley (y)

So on I go to produce a big workshop using my small workshop to craft it.
I'll need 3750 wood and 3750 sand to craft that one. I'm outta luck on that one, since my EC is in the mountains...so back to the shop I go.

I need
3750 wood - 37,500
3750 sand - 37,500

a total of 75,000 to build a big workshop.
Yes I realize it's a on time investment. But in order to keep on using it I'll have to repair it.

The above is only a start. Like any other active player I'll need saddles, bridles, the other tack, fodder...etc etc etc.

As to getting iron - most of my horses are lower end...and by choice I might add. The GP race does not really interest me. That is not how I like to play.

Let's assume I'll try to find 2000 units of iron. Using lower level horses - each horse will give me ONE unit of iron if I'm lucky.

I can of course choose to not repair boxes and the workshop. But if I go there what am I to do? I use my own EC for my horses.

I can of course choose to only keep a handful of boxes available. But where is the fun in that? 177 boxes just sitting there and only 5 active, since I cannot afford to keep them all available?

Ugh... I usually have below 20,000e. This is not going to be fun.
What about the effects on small ECs? I have been slowly building up my EC with top-notch items and am up to 12 boxes, will it be very difficult for me to gather resources?

here's hoping the come off of this a tad and give us a break -- and get a bit more realistic for their
clientele --- there are lots of us who don't have a lot of equus -- and we deserve to be able to play as much as the ones that do -- guess all we can do is wait and cross our fingers

I only have 5 boxes…. but that's going to make getting resources difficult even though I won't have to pay as much for repairs.
By Retired breeder, February 14, 2015 23:41:02
I miss the objectives so much!!! I wish howrse would bring those back default smiley :(
I highly suggest that you stay small and build up after the changes go through. I actually suggested this way back in November as I suspected the worse.

Here is one good reason to staying small.

Lets just take only the water troughs that will go in the boxes...( note they will not affect your prestige--FOR NOW !

Click to display

To buy in the store--30,156 ( now this is the International cost but regional servers could be different. I am going to multiply this by 3 as a large workshop can do 3 at once. So end price is 90,468 e

To make if you have a large workshop( but remember you have to craft the workshop or buy it ( @ 161,000 e .)

You need 4500 iron at 10 e per unit=45,000 e. It will take 3 days to complete (72 hours). So half the price but more time involved.

So per box here is the summary-

So buy=90,000
Make= 45,000

Now imagine if you had 100 boxes in your EC.

Hm, since I won't easily be able to afford either price easily I think crafting's probably the way to go for me. Thanks for the info Cyber! Also, looking through what materials are used to make what, it doesn't seem like mountain ECs will be very useful for crafting.

ok question --
Click to display
will they still have things on sale in the EC market ? (or whatever they will call it) because at this rate as it stands now -- I'll be using some passes to get the bare min going as slowlly as I can -- until I can afford those expensive resources

water troughs at least seem to be the most useful early on -- foal games go easier with the little bonus they give -- I will not like crafting -- more to repair ? not sounding fun -- seems like we have to repair every thing pretty soon -- makes me want to stop playing and wait it out a year and then come back and play after the dust has settled

Cyberhorse-

Can resources be traded privately between players? (Beyond the gift somebody one of an item option, if that's available.) Or does everything have to go through the open market?

How fast does the tack wear out?

What about showers? I have spent around 500,000e on showers and others have spent MUCH more… will they automatically be replaced with troughs?

I was thinking the exact same thing about the forrest ECs -- lots of iron seems to be needed

OK I will try to answer everyone.

First showers are remaining --the water troughs are an addition. For top prestige you will need both, just that the troughs will not count for now.

The higher end products will use iron that comes from the mountains.

Resources are not part of any player exchange program as they can be bought from the store. Think of them like the seeds you need for planting.

The only new things coming up in the market is

the seasonal divines at 15 passes each--at least they are on prepod at that price

Elinea - Oh default smiley xd I guess we are somewhat biased, aren't we?
Looking back through the crafting post I guess it's actually about even - I just wasn't happy that I'd be required to buy so much wood to build boxes and workshops. Iron makes more items but most of them are smaller items like tack that require small amounts you can easily buy.
