Remember that Howrse is owned by owlient, and owlient is owned by ubisoft. Ubisoft is a HUGE company that owns hundreds of games. Many of the games make profits hundreds of times the profit that Howrse makes. Owlient needs to ensure that the game doesn't get shut down, and they do this by offering promotions that promote, like they are supposed to, and they promote pass buying. For those that don't buy passes, they are an opportunity to gain a lot of good items to further our game without spending any money. I think it's super nice that owlient offers us the divines in the reserved sales, so those that don't buy passes can get divines.
Owlient had to shut down babydOw and dragOw, and it seems they want to make sure they don't have to shut down Howrse too.

That makes sense, but I would appreciate it if they made it a bit easier.
Shorah on International crunched some numbers re pass requirements and I think she is a bit conservative but close.

By my calculations, if a player gets the Max. score allowed per hunt - they can make it as far as the 4th prize for Scene 3. To fully complete *that is, get all the pieces of tack to get Amira* the Promotion at present time - a player will need to use around 60 Passes *Please note, this does NOT give you all the prizes for each scene*

If you are wondering how I got this conclusion - here's the Math:

8 Timers per day *4 from logging in, 2 from grooming horses, 2 from winning comps*
14 days long
112 Timers total for the promotion

Max. score per Timer = 1195
Max. score per Day = 9560 (8 timers x 1195 points)
Max. score over all = 133,840

Points needed to get the Clue for each scene:

*While there seems to be some percentage - the numbers I am using are the level where they showed up for me (I've rounded the numbers):

Scene 1 = 41,000 *Final prize at 42,000 points*
Scene 2 = 50,000 *Final prize at 54,000 points*
Scene 3 = 60,000 *Final prize at 66,000 points*
Scene 4 = 72,000+ *Final prize at 78,000 points*
Scene 5 = 85,000+ *Final prize at 90,000 points*
+I have not done scene 4 or 5 yet, so these numbers might be wrong - but I chose them based on my experience with the other 3 scenes (that being the clue seems to show up when you are within 4,000 to 6,000 points *except scene 1*)

Now lets crunch some numbers:

Scene 1 = 41,000 / 1195 = 36 timers *43,020 points (this is technically one more timer than you need - but it will give you 4 additional ones as it hits the Final prize level)

80 Timers remaining (76 free timers + 4 prize timers)

Scene 2 = 50,000 / 1195 = 42 timers *50,190 points*

38 Timers remaining

Scene 3 = 60,000 / 1195 = 51 timers *60,945 points*

However, you can see that we only have 38 timers remaining...which gives us enough points to reach the fourth prize for scene 3 - and nothing beyond it. That's 23 timers that we now need to make up using Passes.

Timers are sold at the following rates:

1 pass = 2 timers
3 pass = 6 timers
5 pass = 12 timers
10 pass = 25 timers
20 pass = 55 timers
50 pass = 150 timers

Best Price for 23 Timers = 10 Passes (gets us 25, so we get 2 extra hunts)

This completes scene 3 - now to complete scenes 4 and 5:

Scene 4 = 72,000 / 1195 = 61 Timers *72,895 points*
+Note, scene 4 has a prize of 3 timers

Scene 5 = 85,000 / 1195 = 72 Timers *86,040 points*

Total Pass Bought Timers needed: 130 *3 are gotten from scene 4*

Total Passes needed to complete Scenes 4 and 5: 50 Passes *best to buy the 150 timer pack as you get extras you can then use to get additional prizes if you do not yet have enough points to hit the final prize for a scene*

Total Passes needed to complete the promotion: 60

I find this number to be a lot more reasonable than the 150+ that people were getting at first.

Please keep in mind that this does NOT inclue the possibility of getting double Timers for Passes, or there being other ways to get Timers (Ex. opening a Horn of Plenty). This also is based solely on MY experience with this promotion so far, so I do not guarantee that the point values I mentioned finding the clues at are 100% accurate! This also does not take into account the chance that point values might change on how many points it takes to complete a scene.

I like that number a bit better. default smiley (lol) 60 seems way more accurate. Still, a very expensive promo, though. Can we non-pass-buyers still only make it to scene 2? Seems a bit unfair, still.

What's dragOw and babydOw?

DragOw was a French demo game, sort of like Howrse, with a player-vs-player mechanism, in which you bred, raised, and trained dragons. It was fun, but the language barrier got to me. Especially since, personally, French sounds a bit choppy and harsh, unlike the sweet flowing of Italian. Just me, though.

BabydOw was a game - and yes, I believe it had an English server - where you raised babies. Not sure what else was going on since I never tried it.

For a specific US/UK/CA server I can't verify, but I do know they had an Int'l server with the required language being English. I tried it a few times off and on but it just didn't do it for me like Howrse does. Howrse is the most popular game from Owlient, so they promote it more.

2.5 million players would get made, if Howrse got shut down. default smiley (lol) That's the averaged collective count of every single person, on every single server.

I know I would be. I have tried multiple different horse sim games online and I just can't do them. They're some much more complicated and the 'neighborhood', so to speak, is more hermit-like. I couldn't understand the skill point system, which made competing and breeding difficult in my opinion. And Star Stables is kinda like WOW but with a much lower level limit, level 4 and that's as high as you get for free. Horse Isle never worked right for me. Howrse is the easiest to comprehend and has some of the most friendly players and staff.

1. You can only 'clear' an item if it currently shows on your list *so you can't clear the Cobra until you list says Cobra*

2. The Clue only shows up once you hit a target point value. Based on my experience - the values seem to be around the following levels:
Scene 1 = 41,000 *Final prize at 42,000 points*
Scene 2 = 50,000 *Final prize at 54,000 points*
Scene 3 = 60,000 *Final prize at 66,000 points*
Scene 4 = 66,000 *Final prize at 78,000 points*
Scene 5 = 75,000 *Final prize at 90,000 points*

3. Some items will differ in how they look from scene to scene (ex. in one scene, the Vase is blue - in others, it's red - but still easily identifiable as a Vase)

4. All Items are in the same places for everyone and everyone has to find the same things (just not in the same order - so you might start by needing to find the Vase, Chest, Cobra, and Gemstones...I might start with Pick axe, Cobra, Monkey, and Chest)

*Scene 5 is also the only scene where instead of being listed as CLUE - the final item has an actual name - it is unknown if this will change once the event goes live

What's with Legendary Horses? I just saw them mentioned while creating a competition

Legendary horses are extraordinary and heroic horses. There are 5 of them. Each horse comes from a different country and has a specific temperament.

You get a legendary horse when you give 5 pieces of legendary tack to one of your horses. That horse's skills are then doubled.
When your horse transforms into a legendary horse, you also receive one of the points of the Star of immortal power. Complete the star in order to activate its power!

Legendary horses cannot die, be sold or appear in rankings. They cannot breed,
be customized,
enter Grand Prix events
age manually.
They do not count towards the prestige of the equestrian center where they are boarded. Once a day they can enter competitions open to all horses, as well as competitions for divine, wild and legendary horses provided they have enough energy to do so.

I know you have to get the five pieces of tack and put them on a horse to make it a Legendaryand whatnot, but how do you get the tack? Is it a future promo, is it already out...???

-Fleece
-GC objectives
-Most horseshoes/last horseshoe collector, or, whoever wins the Divine
-Jackpot in Lotto (wins all 5 pieces)

I'm not quite sure, how the Legendary promo works, though. I don't know, if you can get tack, through that.

Look at my post page 499 July 2nd and forward.

Number of divine or legendary horses: 40
