Honestly, quitting a game because you don't like one of the changes is slightly amusing to me. Games like this change all the time, some of them I haven't agreed with *cough* vet fees *cough*, but you do get used to them after a while. It always surprises me how much people complain about something they can't change. We adapt, that's one of the things we humans are good at default smiley (y)

Umm... quitting a game because you don't like one of the changes makes perfect sense to me. Why would anyone play a game they don't like? And yes, all games change or grow stagnant. But, most game companies will reverse their position if a large number of their money-paying customers start leaving in droves. Please don't take any of this as arguing with you, I just wanted to point out the other side of the coin. default smiley ;)

Bree- You do have a point, but I have something I want to say to that. I quit a couple months ago due to the changes. Not because I couldn't adapt. But because I was afraid how the players would react. If you noticed, ever since the changes, the feel of this server has been unwelcoming and unfriendly, opposite of what it usually is. I'm not quite happy about that and the reason I'm still here is because...I wanna help this server. It used to be so friendly and welcoming...not anymore...well some of us are.
Kiing, you mentioned the new prices of food on the last page - how are you finding that to work out cost-wise? Does it get very expensive or is it a relatively cheap program?

For every person that quits because of the changes, another person joins, another person pretends to not like the changes because they enjoy complaining and another personalized the changes. Most of us like the idea of change a lot less than we like change. How many of complained about the changes, but ended up enjoying them?

There's a kind of rare RC named Skinfaxi…

Not right away but the food offered by the EC will affect the overall prestige of that EC so that may be all the incentive those prestige concerned owners will need.

I believe the time lapse is because they have to plant it to have it so it would not be fair to hit them with a prestige drop because they are waiting for crops to grow. default smiley :)

Sorry that I didn't see this until now.

It's still pretty cheap (you've always had to buy fodder/oats through the horses "feed" button). The turnips that you have now will turn into 25 fodder each, and you can find oats/carrots/fodder in HoPs. ECs will be able to provide all of the food.
So if you were to take the amount of turnips you had, would you multiply or divide to figure out how much fodder you will have?

You'd multiply.

Actually most game companies seem to ignore the wishes of their playerbase >.> They may tweak things as bugs and problems become more apparent, but they do intensive research to determine how many people they are likely to lose, not to mention how the changes affect the overall game and how those changes bridge into future changes.

Claiming one or two minor changes 'ruin' your game is silly to me. I challenge people to go play MMOs who rarely get word from developers at all, have bugs but that have been in the game for 4 years or more, and have unreliable server stability. I still wander back to that game because I have enjoyed it. Change is going to happen, that is how they bring in new costumers, and game companies usually make their most profit on new players that impulse buy to get ahead. The long term spending player base keeps them on level, the newer folk is where they actually make profit.

yes, unsuccessful games do not listen --- you're right, they ignore the players --
Age of Conan (may be better, but was so very bad when I left, I haven't been back ) , Vanguard (one they never even tried to listen to or improve -- it's basically dead ) , Warhammer ( good at first but just got boring -- haven't been back ) Star Wars the Old Republic ( the people have complained since it started that there wasn't enough content -- haven't been back )
Sony Online Entertainment ( the Everquest games ) -- Blizzard ( World of Warcraft ) -- very sucessful and YES they listen ...... they "nerf" us at times -- and we complain -- it's part and parcel of the gaming world -- and we all except some are going to like it and some aren't --
but go over to the SOE forums and see if it's all lightness and rainbows -- people complain ..... it's natural -- and some quit and don't come back -- just like me and the ones I mentioned

I can name many unsuccessful games all day but an excellent example would be Babydow in particular. I experienced what was going on myself... The players...were so rude and nasty towards each other, mods, and admins...so much they had to close down the game. I'm pretty sure the cause of that was the new 'changes'. Admins didn't listen to what they wanted, and it resulted in many rebelling, etc. They've been trying to cover up the truth with other 'stories' that could be true, but they're only distractions from what really happened in that game. I hope Howrse doesn't have the same fate... :c
Cyber-
Do you know if the turnips that are getting turned into fodder are coming just from the ec side of your stock or will it come from the breeder side as well since they aren't going to be used anymore?

Breeders side as well. Turnips will cease to exist.

2 questions...
1. Would it be better to upgrade boxes and get showers before or after the update?
2. Should I finish all foal games and not start it before the update or is it fine if I continue normally?

1.This update won't change boxes/showers.
2. If you are in the middle of foal games with a foal I would suggest finishing them before the changes. There *are* new, working schedules, but they won't work with the current schedule (if that makes any sense :P)

The test server ends on September 8th. You have plenty of time to prepare.
that is exactly what I'm doing -- we have to be proactive in this case -- get all the foals you care about done -- now ---don't take the chance of ruining them
(I've got some "experimental" foals to see if the new games work -- not taking any chances .. )

I've tested a few of the new foal games with various breeds, and they've worked. There were a few problems at first because of the Shetlands getting over weight, but most schedules have been fixed.

Most players that have created working schedules have decided *not* to share them publicly until the changes happen. If anyone has access to schedules *make sure you have the authors permission to post them*.
By Retired breeder, August 24, 2014 02:07:33
Is it possible to do the new foal games now?
By Retired breeder, August 24, 2014 02:12:02
@sugar, I don't think so, because I am pretty sure they would require the new EC system.

You can do all foals now or wait.

I personally don't care if anyone copies what I have on my page. I don't "own" public scheduleas I worked on, as it is meant for all players.

Just do NOT use this schedule until the new updates come into effect.

@Kiing- will we need different foal schedules for different breeds when the changes are implemented? You mention the shetlands getting overweight with a general one- or did it just need to be tweaked?
