The arabian one is okay, but usually the tails aren't that thick and poofy. my arabian has a thin tail and nothing I use on it will make it thicker.

What is everyone talking about?
I kind of like the rugged look of our current Shetlands.
I would much rather own a shaggy one than some neatly clipped show pony.

I guess it's all down to tastes and preferences.
I'm not into showing horses, and mine are not the cleanest of the bunch either.

Anyways, I guess it doesn't matter when it comes down to it all...
Important horses will mostly likely have GA/RC/Element/Pumpkin coats.

Ugh I absolutly hate the future TBs! Youre supposed to see ribs on them! Their legs are too thick and their chests are too deep! Why cant it stay like it is?

Eh. We'll get used to it. Just like we will get used to visible tack, the EC updates... Just like we got used to the new smileys, the forum updates, the General Ranking update... We'll get used to it.

Realistically the current skinny legged non deep chested look is why so many happen to break down on the track. . . I would rather see a conformational TB that looks sound >.> Also, again, only Racing Fit TBs should show ribs. . . you do not want a ribby looking Eventing or dressage horse.

Each to their own though, I guess.

I think they should add in a blue roan coat! I've seen some blue roans that are absolutely beautiful! The only thing would be that they would be super rare coats.default smiley :'( Please let us have blue roans in the game plz.

Strong dislike for many, although maybe not all of these "new coats". default smiley :(

I especially dislike the new Gypsy Vanner coat. I mean...seriously??? That looks absolutely nothing like a Gypsy Vanner horse - at ALL. default smiley (n)

I sincerely hope howrse does change some of the coats they have.

Why can't we vote on these coats like we do the GA coats? I think that sounds like a much better idea to me.
Oh no! What are they doing to my beloved friesians?!? It looks horrible! They are much more regal and beautiful now than what the change could be. It's why I picked working with them. Now i have to look at that all the time?default smiley :k

The original heavy warmblood version of the new coats was supposed to be a blue roan for the roan, but apparently they decided to stick with the bay roan instead.

Also, with the new breed, howrse screwed up yet again. Mouse in color coding for the highland pony does not mean mouse grey, it means a grey dun, kinda like what the Gra coat is on the fjords. default smiley (lol) Many of the coat colors for them are some variation of dun, with a low percentile of other coats.

I got curious and looked the new breed up on wikipedia. I've done it with almost all the breeds currently on US howrse.

Yes, I don't like the change either. It looks like they had their feathers shaved off. Feathers are supposed to be on a friesian. The horse that plays Pegasus on clash of the titans is a Friesian, and I believe he was of show quality.

I agree. Gypsy vanners are supposed to have long, flowing feathers, and these look like the feathers have been nearly cut off. I seen one on a movie the other day that was gorgeous. It was named Bob. I forget the name of the movie, but he was definitely a gypsy. The feathers are to be long and flowing so they look like they dance as the horse moves. Not only should they appear to dance, but they should lay like a pair of bell bottoms around the horse's hocks.

I assume they would mostly use horses in movies that meet show confirmation so they'd be easily recognizable, unless crossbreeds.

Er... Hallahoth... You might be right, but that would mean the local horse parks have all their thoroughbreds too skinny. There's 4 in my county, one of which is just thoroughbreds (there is a race track, but they also house show jumpers, and even the show jumpers show at least two sets of ribs, just not as pronounced as the racers)... but we're all entitled to our opinions. Also, the thoroughbreds on the game are set up to be gallop racers, with their top three skills being what they are. I guess a thoroughbred's confirmation is in the eye of the beholder default smiley :)

I do agree with you on the legs though. The lighter the boning in the legs, the more likely they are to break one on the track. Barbaro had skinny legs and ended up injuring himself (i know for a fact that Barbaro broke one) and when a horse breaks a leg or severely injures one, there's not much of a choice. They did try to save Barbaro, spent several tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars to try to save him, but it just wasn't in the cards. The more refined the thoroughbred, the more dangerous to race them.

I haven't seen a picture of he updated Friesian coats. Do they really look bad? I wanted to breed the, though I don't know if I can if the coat looks too bad..

Lindsay, here is what was posted a few pages back for the coats.
Possible for someone to dig through and find the Connemara coat? Connies are my go to breed, and eventually where I want to hard core focus my unicorn breeding once I get the coats for all the unicorn breeds (two more breeds and 13 coats to go. . . I need Hestias)

And I understand, each to their own opinion. I personally do not mind not seeing ribs on the TBs, but I have followed a few too many sad horse stories over the years, and my biased thoughts against racing color a lot of that. I do agree the G and Friesian could look closer to type. Know nothing about Noko so cannot comment there, and I would love a touch more stockiness to the QH >.> Anyone else think that is a really awkward neck?

but we will have to make do. I overuse GAs anyway and will likely only see the new graphics a few minutes every few weeks.

Yes, I agree with the quarter horses. They should be a lot more stocky, but there has been a major influx of thoroughbred blood in recent years to try to refine the breed. All in all, I think quarter horses don't need to look refined. The Spanish horses also have an awkward neck in addition to the quarter horses. I think a few of the pictured breeds have awkward necks.

I'd look and post some myself, Hallaloth, but, I don't know where people are finding them, nor do I know what search parameters were used.

I don't agree with horse racing either if it's any consolation, but I'm going to leave it at that to prevent a possible debate on the issue, as those are not allowed on the forums.

I too have heard too many sad stories about horses. I will also leave it at that.

I remember when they updated the coats for the first time on international... you were allowed to choose if you seen the old coat or the upgraded coat from your office. it would be nice for that option to return, but I doubt it'll happen.

I will say the leopard coats will be an improvement as far as pattern is concerned. The spots on a leopard are supposed to be larger than they are currently.

I wonder what the snowflakes will look like default smiley :)

I'm mostly an AT breeder, and I'm going to miss the old look. The new one isn't too bad though...I hate the new shetlands. I like how stocky, rough-coated they look right now! The legs on the new ones are all wrong. I agree that the new Gypsy V's and Freisians are all wrong as well; they no longer look the way they should. I also think the Purebred Spanish horses should have been left alone.

I actually like the new AT's & the QH's aren't bad. The necks are down as that's a common show position for them - the neck being completely straight is actually a good thing in that case.
My main problem is the mustangs. I have to say that right now, their chests are far too large. But the new ones' throatlatch is far too thick, maybe it's the angle but it's very aesthetically displeasing at the moment.

Er... addicted... if you look at an actual picture of an American mustang, especially the kieger mustangs, they have a very large chest that appears to be out of proportion with the rest of their bodies default smiley (lol) I thought the same thing when i first seen the graphic they are doing away with so I looked them up.

Now that I looked at all of the current coats, the horses seem depressed in the new ones. Please don't change them Howrse...
By Retired breeder, March 17, 2014 06:40:54
hvt - Yes, I know, I just think that they could have displayed it a little better in the current graphics. I have a mustang and his chest is huge, but I think it looks a little odd on here. Maybe it's just the placement of the head or something default smiley (lol)

I had an Arabian that I rode and his tail was.default smiley ;) I'm not happy about some of the coats and not too pleased bout the Arabians.default smiley :( Some just look ugly.

I looked on photo bucket but couldn't find any.

The tekes and fjords look good, similar to the breeds, but I agree with the GV's and Friesians... they look nothing like the breed standard.

I also agree with those who say the new coats make the horses look depressed. It's something with the eyes. They look dull and listless, and some look like they are giving doe eyes or puppy dog eyes default smiley *-)
