I like all the new horse coats. They look much much better to me. I personally love change and what comes with it

*Disclaimer: this is all my opinion and I have a right to voice it politely.

Now, I completely understand that a lot of hard work was put into these coats. I understand that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But what are the public forums for, if not voicing opinions? I do think some people have been a little rude, but I agree that some of these coat changes really miss the mark. For context, I've been playing Howrse for 5+ years (on many different servers) and every time the coats have changed (3 or 4 times now?) I have thought all the art updates have been wonderful improvements, which is natural as Howrse expands and is able to hire more talented graphic artists. Until now. This is the first time that I have seen the design for any horse breed be updated to something I find less pleasing. I have issues with a few of the updates, but I think the worst is the Friesian. Previous to the change, I believe that the Friesian was the best-designed horse on the game. It stuck out in a good way for the level of detail and sophistication put into its art. The updated coat simply does not possess the elegance and beauty of the Friesian, which I think the previous design did.

I'm all for change. Seriously. If you've seen my forum posts before you know I'm usually gung-ho about every update (and I am super excited for tack, big contest, etc!) But this graphics change has some flaws. I don't think that pointing them out should be considered unnecessary negativism. If we voice our concerns in a reasonable and courteous fashion, Howrse can listen. We saw it with the stock horses coat. Just please do it nicely. Using tons of angry faces and caps lock is immature, annoying, and just takes away from the argument you're trying to make. (Yes, I'm tone policing, but these are virtual horses and I feel it's okay ;p)

Thank you Wester. Nicely said. I just finished telling my BP, if we don't say how we feel about the coats, then nothing will ever be done. Maybe if enough of us kindly voice our thoughts and let them know what is wrong, they could possibly fix it. You said yours with great tact and respect.

Oh Wolfheart7 and ghoover - About Spring Break. I get 2 weeks of. It started this week and I get Easter week off!
And yay to ghoover. I'm homeschooled as well! That's kind of why I get two weeks off. But then again we (me, my brother, and my mom)(sorry that was bad grammar) start a couple of weeks before public schools start so we get a bit longer holidays and even get out a couple of weeks before them. And we don't get presidents day and veterans day ect... off. So that contributes to it.

Same here. Most of the horses look much better to me. Some of them aren't the best but it must be hard to make all of those coats. Change is a good thing, well usally. The same old, same old can get boring after a while.

So.......i guess we have to live with them for the next 3-4 years. It's a shame. I hope the breed doesn't die out because no one wants to work with them. I won't even be able to sell them! I can't keep bringing the quality horses if no one buys them. What really kills me is we actually didn't vote on these horses, only a select few within the game.

Lol yeah 'shared with the whole howrse team.' I wonder why Howrse decided to listen to us about the GV's and QH's but not the friesians. Hopeully they do change it because i personally do not like it because it just does not look like a friesian.

I'm positive the Howrse team gets thousands of tickets per day, y'all. I wouldn't expect them to listen. But again, remember that they already did - the Friesian that changed was an updated version of the first one they released, so they did listen and changed it. Same with the Gypsy Vanner, and I wasn't at first on board with the release of new GV coats (I did not like them) but with the changes they actually look gorgeous to me. They tried, and I understand that some people do not like them, but Howrse already did take player opinions into account multiple times and this is what we got. Some players may be happy (like myself) and some may not.

The Friesian coats are the only ones at this point I don't like, but I am getting used to them. Their face just looks a bit strange to me. I pretty much love every other coat. I can't wait for the QH/Paint/Appy update because I don't like the current coats we have for them, and I'm so glad the Hano coat changed because I did not like to look at the old one. Just a matter of opinion, and of course negative opinions are 100% fine, I just think it's important to remember that Howrse has taken our opinions into account (first with the new coat poll in the first place, second by changing the look of the QH, Friesian, GV, and possibly others when flaws were pointed out) and that they cannot possibly please all the millions of players per sever.

anyway I do like the fresians now the GVs arnt my favs but the only GVs I have are unis and ones wit GAs so I am okay with that I really love the tekes

When we get down to it, I will honestly have to say this is what is bothering me the most.

1.We voted on this. *Yes and no. We voted on a select few horses. The tb, hano, psh and a few more. Fries, vanners, connies, and shetlands were never up for voting. And the images they gave us to vote on are also not the ones they gave us except the psh and hano (I believe). The TB looked nothing like what we got.

2. The folks that I have heard say, if you don't like the look of it, then change breeds. * Seriously? Do folks really expect people to stop breeding and developing the horse they have worked on for over 2 and half years and have got to the top of the rankings? Ummm, no?

3. The potential of devalue of the horse. * I stated this earlier. Unless you constantly buy passes without selling your horses, you can't make any profit. I sell my horses. I need something to compensate or I won't be able to continue like I am right now, I couldn't even pass one of these unis off for even 50,000e. And that is sad. People have said they don't even want them anymore, so why would they buy them?

4.They were updated from the previous release. * Hmmm....possibly. But it was so slight that you can't even really tell what they did. Take the bump off their neck? They certainly didn't take the suggestions that were given by the players such as mane and tail, or the missing feathers. The gypsies are quite VERY different than the first proposed release. They are so much better! People were suggesting the same things for the fries, but.......nothing.

Okay, this will be my last post about it. I opened the disent about the friesian again this morning and probably shouldn't have. I am sorry for that and I'm going radio silent on the issue from here on out in the forums. Thanks for your patience with my ranting and concerns about my favorite breed of horse on the game. before you "dump " all your horses you don't like -- remember this -- it's the horses' skills we breed for -- not looks -- since we don't have any genetic coding and no way to "make " new breeds (by crossbreeding ) all we have are skills that keeep the game interesting -- Friesians are not too shabby in the dressage department -- not as good as Nokos (which I used to absolutely hate the look of -- IF they change them, as I see them now on INT spoilers, they are much better ... ) might think about keeping the old Fries for the EC prestige -- better dressage horses mean better your EC prestige is AND it will help you get better lessons ..... something to think about

I think people are forgetting that the coats we now think of as "old" were not the originals.

Things change. Sometimes change takes a bit of getting used to. I recall people panicking last time the layout changed as well, yet now there's hardly a whisper of displeasure.

Yes you are right just like the smileys I STILL do NOT like them the only coats that are WAY better are the akhale tekes. it is my opinion and BTW the TN walkers changed today.
