How does the Magic Ride work? A lot of players said that it was like a board game, but what exactly do you have to do? I only registered on Howrse this summer, so I have never participated.
magic- It's basically like a board game except that you only get a specific # of rolls every hours or so. You can do different objectives every day to win things. (like another roll)

I forgot how you could win the prizes though.

Basically you click a button that gives you the amount of space you can move your piece on the board. It can take AGES to get to the next board.

Sorry if it has been already said, but when is the Magic Ride happening?
I find it strange that across all servers there were 100s of bad comments on the SOA for religious reasons and on the 10 servers I am on I have seen no bad comments on the Magic Ride -A Christmas Promo- where you open the gifts on Christmas... Just my thoughts...

To those on the test server-
Any word on if we'll finally be able to upgrade boxes again instead of having to buy new ones when the next updates hit? (Or any future updates for that matter)
I'm like a lot of players and held off on destroying my 2*s because I don't want to waste them and have to buy all new so I'm wondering if that's coming back at all or are we still waiting for that possibility once we're able to build things ourselves?

Also, this hasn't been mentioned in a awhile... Anything else on when/if the rest of the Water and/or Seasonal divines will come out in the direct sales?

Thanks!
It's probably because people don't like the 'negative' (apocalyptic) view on Christianity. Idk. I'm not religious, so both of them are kind of mythology-related to me.

The upgrading of ALL boxes has been removed permanently or at least as permanent as Howrse tends to make things.

As far as the Magical Ride, I liken it to the old game of snakes and ladders. One move can transport you to another location or get you nowhere.

The main reason most don't like it is because it can be very frustrating and tends to be a bit slow. It is one of the longest promos on Howrse and last year it ran over 21 days( I was stuck on one board for over a week) with you able to open presents on the 25th, but it allowed you to continue playing ( and gathering more gifts etc after the 25th).

I suspect the reason is that most people now-a-days associate Christmas more with the commercial gift giving aspect than with the original "Christ's Mass" rituals and ceremonies.

Many of those who celebrate Christmas - do so more because of the traditional gift giving than because of the religious aspects.

Here is how the magic ride works for those who haven't done it before: (I apologize if the dates are incorrect, this was posted during last years Magic Ride, just pretend it says December 25th 2014)

Click to display
Gather gifts, keys and overcome challenges to get a chance at (whatever divine it's going to be this year)

Until the 2015-01-06 00:00, take a Magic Ride and start gathering presents to pile up under your Christmas tree in anticipation for the time to open your gifts at 2013-12-25 10:01 (this year I assume it will be 2014-12-25-10:01)

Your aim is to get across all the board to gather as many presents as possible and a chance to try and get theJackpot: Opal the new Gemstone Divine!

To move from square to square, you will need to roll a die, each throw will tell you how far you can move thanks to the highlighted squares.

To move from board to board you will have to gather all the keys on each level to get to the next.

If you manage to gather all the 28 keys, you can try your luck at getting (whatever divine it will be this year!)

To make things easier you can take up challenges that will offer you extra die rolls, bonus die rolls or extra gifts!

And you may even get some extra help during the Magic Ride...

Warning: You will only be able to open the presents you gathered starting on the 25th of December, not before!

Best wishes for this festive season!

I agree with you, what's with the hate? I know you really need to have passes to do it but is getting the new divine and "winning" always the point? I mean it is but, it's supposed to be fun and GIVING us an oppurtinuity to win a new divine, not saying that it's fun and you have to get the new divine or else it's no fun.

My thoughts exactly, music. <3
I don't hate it - but I find it exceptionally frustrating. If there was way to get a bonus that allowed to move to the next board or area with a roll that matched or exceeded what was need to land on the portal - that would aleviate much of the frustration.

Thanks so much for putting that up, music1530default smiley :)! The magic ride sounds really cool. I can't wait for it to begin. I don't care if I only win small prizes, it will still be an awesome christmas gift!

@magic101 your very very welcome! default smiley :d
the reason people dont like the magic ride is u have to wait long periods of time just to roll the dice and then 75% of the time u keep missing the square u wanna land on

Magic Ride is my least favorite of the promos. Whereas for the Pinatas, I would get up at two in the morning to click... I will not do that for a dice roll.

I agree with City of Emeralds, except it just sounds that way for me because I haven't been playing for more than a year. I did like the world equestrian games cards, though
