Player; Will you be replacing this item that has been removed to maintain the value level of the Vintage pack or are you just removing it and leaving this pack with a bit lesser value ?

Ow's Reply;

We are removing the packs and working on something sightly different thou shall see soon and i think you' ll also approve of it

I am actually in the same boat as you. I am hoping someone here can do a analysis so we can understand what OW posted.

The general gist to me seems that where you put your location changes the rides that show up on your profile ( this is verified on my prepod EC site).

What I think is the problem is the future changes in Feb were the location will decide what that EC does with the resources available for that location may not be what you want but you are now "stuck" with what you decided now ( in Dec). default smiley :s

Really, I want mountain, but training wise I need forest, or dose it matter?

@Hallaloth- I was hoping the same thing!
@Cyberhorse - Good point. Anyway to bring up that it would be a good idea to allow us to change them until they publish ALL of the EC updates so we can make the best decisions, having all possible info?

Am I the only one here that thinks we should be allowed to change locations, not necessarily at will but at least a couple of times until we get the hang of things.

What about the ones of us that don't have a huge EC with horses to do lessons/missions with??
I'm almost to 70 boxes but even once I get to the min of 100 I was planning only boarding divines which can only be worked once a day, other than the one skiller to keep my lessons at 60e... Seems like the players that have all regular horses doing lessons and missions as many times a day at they like will have a significant advantage over those that would rather their EC be a little more private... I don't care for that at all...
Okay I'm confused a bit.

Cyberhorse are you saying that the rides that are offered will be dependent on the location of the EC?

Meaning if you need to do both mountain and forest rides you will have to change ECs to complete training?

Or is it that the location affects the amount of energy used for a specific ride (that was what I thought the original information had said).

I must not be understanding the changes in blupping. I always do a complete bold.. all skills so I already do all the rides and comp skills. That can be done easily before the age of 10. Is that what the chart is saying... or am I hopelessly confused? I am not a fan of the chart as it really doesn't say much. At least not to me! If anyone understands those charts...please do a spoiler and explain it! default smiley (lol)

Yes to your first question.

And it appears that while you will BLUP your horse the timing will be different as you will gain skills slower in the area that is not the strong suit of your horse compared to where you are located. If anyone can make sense of the BLUPing schedules I posted that OW posted please post for all of us.

I am just so glad that I am not a BLUPer. I do things at my own pace so for the generalist the location probably won't matter other than what that location will be able to "manufacture" in Feb.

As a generalist I am leaning towards the beach location and let the ride to skill ratio just match themselves out.

Full bold before 10? Is that with a Timer? Not sure I have ever managed to fully bold before 10, but I never use timers or Nyx Packs for the Star to get the extra hours.

Also the Pre-historic look fairly decent, but can they just throw in or relate to the Przewalski which is in fact a modern day pre-historic? (they are gorgeous looking equines by the way if you have never seen one).

Actually... while I am like you and my EC is mostly private, mostly divines, I think it is a good change. After the last couple of changes, a lot of people raised the skill requirements for their ECs, shrinking the supply of good, standard ECs. Since the majority of horses are not divines/top-notch skillers but standard horses, I think it's great to give people an incentive to cater for this demand.

Again, my personal EC choice is similar to yours. Yes, I suspect I will not get as many resources as other ECs. And I don't think it's unfair - it's my choice to keep my EC a bit more private, a pretty selfish choice when I look at all the horses I have boarded at other peoples ECs. I appreciate that if everybody made the "private-ish EC" choice, the game I'm playing (and enjoying) right now wouldn't be possible.
It's great to have the possibility to reserve all boxes for yourself, but I don't think it should be encouraged. Also, boarders earning the EC resources helps to counter the "my boarders are eating all my crops/taking all my tack/deteriorating my boxes" thing. In my eyes, it's a great change that evens things out a bit for the majority of the players.
That's just how I see it, though...

I do agree with the fact that the more 'open' ECs that cater to more 'regular' horses should have the extra benefits, it just seems that there should be a way for the rest of us to make up the materials we're going to need later on.

Most of the EC changes I'm happy with. I can't wait for the reserves to merge, I'm actually looking forward to having a more balanced game instead of the ECs just being an after thought.

I'm just hoping there will be a way for those of us that do choose to keep our ECs mostly private, to kind of make up for the fact that we won't be getting as many resources and materials from the missions/lessons. Maybe divines should offer a bit more of said resources or something like that? Just a thought...

I'm more worried that personally that I will make a bad choice for my EC and not be able to change it later after the rest of the updates are finished next year. I sure will not be restarting my whole game just to restart my EC and I don't like that they changed the fact that you have to. My EC has nothing (At least currently) to do with how I play my game, how I breed and work my horses or anything of that nature. I can't imagine anyone wanting to restart everything just to fix a location choice with their EC... I spent almost two years religiously logging on every couple of weeks so not to lose my progress/horses etc for when I was able to play full time again so I won't be throwing that away just because I chose wrong with the EC.

I'm really hoping they'll let us switch a few times once all the updates are finished and everyone has a better idea of what's going on with everything.
Those charts are definitely confusing, but what I've deciphered is that they are really trying to balance the horses in terms of how long it takes to get them to blup. (Top 3 skills) Right now there are 6 breeds that only require one type of rides and 1 comp to do this, which I know are the cross country horses. (tekes, connies, quarters, etc.) I almost always get my connies to blup (except for age of course) by 8 without a timer, so I don't even bother using them. So now they are adjusting it so that the rides are going to make it more difficult for those types of horses. We are going to have to do both types of rides now in the long run ti get to blup, which of course isn't going to make xc folks (myself included) not as happy (as I hate doing rides in the first place)

Personally as far as location is concerned, while I appreciate the fact they are trying to introduce variety into the game, I feel it's only going to make it that much more difficult to blup horses. As it is, my high gp fries that used to enjoy the luxury of a 53-55+ e lesson are now having to blup in....drum rolll....43-45e. A marked difference that I don't see changing anytime soon.

I think that no one saw the Chinese divines being offered until they were put up. So we have no way of knowing whether or not the Season divines are going to be offered. Please correct me if I am wrong.

So I don't get these 'missions' Will someone explain them to me? Do I have to go on at a certain time of day to take care of my horse?

I think Howrse will give it a break before offering more divines in the sales. I just used all my reserves on a Chinese, so I have plently of stocking to do!

Hallaloth Yes I can fully bold a horse by age 10 including the 20 wins so blup is 100. It is with a timer. Without a timer takes a few more months. But I don't blup much anymore....too busy! But it really isn't hard to do... must be the timer.
