Images courtesy of both Owlient (prior post by multiple players), and Wikipedia, in that order.

The new breed looks NOTHING like it does in real life. The pony pictured below is a champion show horse, so you know he's the cream of the crop.

So these coats are actually going to replace the horse coats currently? Because if so…I don’t really like them. Are players going to have any say in this?
By Retired breeder, March 18, 2014 20:12:42
Yes, they are replacing the current coats. No, we do not have a say.

according to howsre, ravenmoon, we already had our say when they took a poll last summer during the last horse parade.

The majority of players voted for the new coats instead of against. I voted against as some of them, to me, look kind of sickly or nothing like the breeds. I compared them against pictures from wikipedia before I voted.

Sorry about the double post lol

I liked the coats that they showed in the past, I liked them a lot. Dunno about some of the new ones though.
I don't like Friesan, GV, Shetland, (Both of which seem very hard to tell apart) and Curly.

I've noticed a lot of the coats are so similar that they seem to be repeating themselves. It's very hard to tell them apart be position and coat. I son't like that.

I absolutely love: Arabian, Akhal teke (I always hated Tekes but I'm going to like them a lot now) PSH...

Could they be bringing the silver dapple coloring to howrse??! Its like.. one of my all time favorites besides some cremelo's, perlino's, and a few other colors. I seriously hope that they do. Do you think it will be for all breeds or just the breeds that it could natrually occur in?
By Retired breeder, March 18, 2014 20:52:06
I've been hunting for images for the new connie coats... still no sign!

Personally, I really love all of the new coats. Some of them now, I wont go mentioning them because I'm not here to start an argument, do not look realistic at all and I am displeased with them. To each their own. Some look way to cartoony for my liking as they are now. But I do agree that the gypsies could use a little more feathering, and the fresians as well. I personally like the new shetland look, not all shetlands have to be shaggy, but that's just my oppinion. I really adore these new coats, and I think they did the best of their abilities to try to make them look as real to the real thing as possible, while keeping the integrity of their work. Seeing the different colored gypsies really doesnt make the coat look all that bad, in fact it makes me like it more, same for all the other breeds. They aren't going to be exactly able to replicate the real thing down to the exact snip of hair, and I think they did an extremely good job with all of them. Yes again some things could be fixed with a few of the breeds, but we have to give them credit they look great. I really can't wait till they come out, just seeing them here posted makes me so excited for their arrival.

You know, I kind of like them, but they really COULD be better
By Retired breeder, March 18, 2014 21:02:30
Themisadventure-

It would only be the breeds it can naturally occur in if they are bringing a new coat color to Howrse. They do not bring coats to breeds they cannot occur in.

There are a lot of coats that are missing from a lot of breeds, such as the paints, shetlands, criollos, nokotas, etc

I still remember when the Appaloosa had like 3 or 5 basic coats on international years upon years ago!
By Retired breeder, March 18, 2014 21:05:18
Thanks addicted and hvtgrad05 for verifying that.
Themis, I liked the less realistic style- some were disproportioned and cartoonish, true, but that’s the way I like them. The only ones I really dislike are the Curlys (the texture of the coat is gorgeous, but something about the mane irks me) Shetlands and Nokotas.
I actually like the new Teke design though.
I was excited about the new coats and I still am for some of them, but to me it looks like a bunch of them look super out of proportion. Too thick or short legs, high or low hindquarters, muscled necks when the rest of the body doesn't match, etc. It's probably because I'm used to the ones we have now, but we'll see I suppose.

Is this more of a blue roan?

By Retired breeder, March 18, 2014 21:31:45
And I believe that that silver grey coat is replacing the fleabitten gray coats. The color code is gr-t which in the current coats is fleabitten gray
By Retired breeder, March 18, 2014 21:31:49

The curlies are supposed to have manes like that. Having originally been feral horses, the manes are left dreadlocked. It also keeps them from losing their curls. Tails are often combed however, loosely. The current curlies show no signs of the natural dreads they should have. It also makes the curly's mane easier to take care of.

I think the dreads on the new graphic are realistic and look better than the hopelessly tangled mess on the current curlies (they appear quite knotted but no dreads). But that's just my opinion and a few things i've seen before when researching the breeds on here for something to do.
By Retired breeder, March 18, 2014 21:32:52
Yes that's more likely a blue roan but not fully.

These are the coats colors I found.

By Retired breeder, March 18, 2014 21:33:29
Sarah-

Someone posted a picture of a new fleabitten a few pages back. It's not replacing them.
By Retired breeder, March 18, 2014 21:34:16
I realize that the new manes for the curlies look more realistic, but to me they look wrong. It may just be that I am used to the other coats, but that’s where I stand at the moment.

Yes! I know most people hated the fleabiten gray, so hopefully they'll like this one better. I know I do!default smiley (7)default smiley (b)

It's a cross between a bay roan and a blue roan it looks like. I guess Devs were trying to introduce the blue roan like so many want, but didn't realize it is a gray undercoat instead of bay. There are three basic types of roan: Blue Roan, Bay Roan, and Strawberry roan.

At least they're trying to give out what players want, which is saying more than some other games out there.
By Retired breeder, March 18, 2014 21:36:29

I posted a fleabitten gray PSH. What I am talking about is for the arab coat
By Retired breeder, March 18, 2014 21:38:17
And it will apparently be a Brand New Trotter coat?
