I could rant about the vet fees all day. I've grown accustomed to every other change in this game, liked most and loved others, and the only one I loathe with a passion is the vet fee. Why should those of us who save our Equus be punished for it? Bah humbug! Rant over. default smiley :-))
I do think the coats will give the whole site a graphics boost - with all the other new visuals, why shouldn't the coats come along for the ride? default smiley :d

Do not get me started on vet fees, Hallaloth. I can rant all day about how unrealistic it is for players to be charged based on their reserves for foaling. Sure, more money means you can afford better vet care, but vet fees for foaling rarely extends thousands in difference, unless you are buying genetics tests for the foal.... and this game isn't centered around genetics... not to mention it isn't usually thousands in difference if you do order genetics tests appropriate by breed. Sure, there are vaccinations, but all horses should receive those and don't vary based on how much money you have either (unless the horse is a rescue).

I better get off my soap box before I really get going with it default smiley (lol)
We're all Equus Scrooges! default smiley xd

If the game is about realism then the vet fees don't make any sense - in real life the vet isn't going to demand to see your finances and adjust his fee accordingly.
"Oh, your mare's in foal? Well, let me charge you THIS much today!"

Yes, I think everyone is agreed on despising vet fees. As I said before, I don't know one player who likes them.

Oh, the notoriously bothersome vet fees. I frequently blow my money on coverings, just because I have to chip in an extra 200 for vets. In fact, sometimes vet fees mean I can’t afford the covering at all!
I think everyone dislikes vet fees.
if we're going even more realistically, then I'd never pay a vet bill because of my mare giving birth.
We've had 12 horses born at my barn, and not one of them had any complications.
They just pop those suckers out while they're out in the pastures and next morning they have a little one following them.
I don't know. I'm not a bad or neglecting owner, trust me. I spend more money on them than i'd spend on myself. But vets are only necessary in my household when the horse hurts themselves, but only if it's severe...
My father and I both know a thing or two about healing up horses, and we stock up on supplies, as well as penicillin.

so speaking realistically, I don't think many people take their horses to the vet because they're mare is giving birth.
We have taken them to make sure they're pregnant, but other than that, no.

Include me in on this!
I have to cover 1 uni a week because if I do all in one day it takes up 10k+ to cover them all!!
It's just not fair.
I want to know the point of the price raising because your reserve raises.
I once had to pay 2500... only vet fees! It was one of my own horses with another of my own horses... Which should be free! SO mad.

I like to think the vet fees go toward vaccinations as they are no longer required, but I get what you are saying. Most horses give birth at night, when most veterinarians aren't present at the bigger stables that employ them. They do check the foals out the next morning, giving them a once over, but ordinarily, it's the owner providing most of the care during the birthing process. If they want to be realistic, have them charge for vaccinations again, but get rid of the vet fees or lower them. or introduce genetics testing to find out the GP of the foal, but this sliding fee scale is completely unrealistic.

Believe me, i get it. I purposely keep my reserve low for when I'm breeding my foundies, otherwise, I'm paying more in vet fees than what i can sell the foals for.

To go off my earlier post, if they ever introduce genetic testing, it should be required in order to sella horse, and it would have to replace vet fees. Just an idea.

What would they be testing for, hvtgrad05? I’m just curious- and interested.

The vets drive me crazy! But is I spend money on auctions then cover it's less and I ether get my money back or I get a horse to sell at the same price!!

I had three different instances where I had a mare have trouble. One the foal was a red-bag delivery, one the foal presented upside down, and the third was a rear facing presentation.

It happens - and if you had 12 foals born without incident, you've been blessed.

I have had my uni coverings cost a 100k for about 17 covers before. The only thing I do is breed unis though (and occasionally pick up a GA in sales) so I really have nothing else to spend Equus on. I just hate that I can be spending 9k or more for a cover and get a dud that is only worth the 2k safe haven sale, or occasionally keeping some of the better GP ones for fillers for later blupping.

Anyway. Has Howrse mentioned a date on the graphic revamp? At first people were saying they were doing only Warmbloods first or something like that, so I wonder if they will all come with the horse parade or gradually a couple each month.

For now, I'm just assuming that the entire coat update will come with the next promotion or with the April happenings - that will be a big change log to read through! default smiley :-))

So we could see the Genetic Potential. It's the closest thing to genetics we've got on here default smiley (lol)
You know, I really wish they would add Albino friesans. I have seen a couple RL and the plain black coat color gets kind of... boring.

I actually love all our new coats except for the GV & QH. Mustangs are borderline.

They could add a red coat as a 1% coat option as well. Fire Magic was a purebred Friesian stallion who carried the rare red gene. He was stunning. A eye catching bronze-red color.
