And the roan is different. Blue, but really ugly, IMHO.
Is there any word that Donkey's will be getting a new Graphic? I don' know about anyone else, but the current graphic makes them look like stick legs, and I have never liked the angle it presents.

I’ll ask on INT about the donkey coats. To be honest, I don’t like them at the moment either! Something about the angle they’re on. The donkey foals are cute though.
Which brings me to the other thing I’m worried about: foal coats.

Addicted, the vaccinations and wormer came during my hiatus where I didn't have the internet, or the game had too many variables for someone just picking it back up after a year or two.

I think they should bring some of that stuff back, but not for beginners. As people learn the game, it should become slightly more difficult and complex.

I remember when dirty meadows introduced poisonous plants that the horses ate, and ended up getting sick. You had to buy an antitoxin or antidote from the store each time it happened, or your horse was sick for three days or more.

default smiley (o)Maybe if they brought that back, more people would take better care of their centers, although, I guess that's part of the reason for getting rid of the jobs too.

I discovered years ago, that if you set your comps up correctly, even a center that is first starting out can afford to have each position filled with adequate workers, even if they are all temps (I have had a few hiatuses on this server but didn't lose my account. To keep my center cranking, I hired temps and activated comanagement to get my fields rotated once a month. Even with all temps, I was able to make a profit running just five comps a day... this was before my center really took off and i could afford two large race tracks).

I remember when beginners comps didn't pay 500e each time they ran. I remember a time before divine comps too.
I asked about donkeys on INT, too, I'm curious as well.

It looks like a cross between a blue roan and a bay roan, not quite one or the other. It looks like a blue roan but the head and legs are the color or a bay roan's base coat.

Aren't blue roans supposed to have a gray body and a dark gray head/legs (I think it's a mouse gray base coat for the blue roans instead of bay like for the bay roans).

I said it once, i'll say it again, at least howrse is trying with the roans. I've seen quite a following for the blue roan coats.

Good ol' days!default smiley (lol) My first horse died of St. Johns Wort! then I resuscitated her with a pandoras box and a PStone both of which I got from a HOP UFO, which were more common, because they were not restricted to players pages. THey were regular UFOs!

Blue roans-Red paints-Black that's blue-And Flaxen liver chestnut are some of my favorite horse coat colors. So I know allot of what they should look like.
By Retired breeder, March 19, 2014 00:20:26
There was a post 2 pages back that showed the update on teks and the flaxen liver chestnut just wasn't dark enough for me. i looked like dark bay not liver chestnut.
By Retired breeder, March 19, 2014 00:22:58
The 1st roan is a little iffy lol. Second one is perfect though default smiley (l)

Oh my goodness yes.. That'd be the best thing in the world.

I miss the BMI UFO's as well.. Those were such an awesome surprise!
By Retired breeder, March 19, 2014 00:27:23
Agreed!

Anyone else been here long enough to remember when the Cherry Bay Overo was referred to on here as the Red Bay Overo? They're the breed I started with this time around on day one of the US server.

The tovero's are an improvement at least.

The tobianos aren't too bad - different at least.

The Overo's aren't too bad, I just don't like the white heads. default smiley (o) The old Splash Overos were pretty, which is why I started with one... then they changed it to the frame overo with white head. Needless to say, my prize mare immediately got a golden apple. Also, another reason I don't like the frame overo is there is a genetic defect associated with it in real life, and they are popularizing it. I wish they'd bring back the splash overo.

Okay I know I have been doing a lot of ranting on the mustang update so to put some people at ease I will make gradual posts on what I think of the others.

First up Shetlands!

People hate the new Shetlands. Flat as a pancake.
But I kind of enjoy their new look, and like every other coat there are flaws. Below is what I find wrong (or agree) with the new Shetlands.

My Thoughts:

Not enough life in the eyes. If you compare - the older ones are glossy and you can see the the pupil and iris! But not know, they are just black dots.
The legs need more feathering and just a bit more husky. But they are okay.
The cheeks are TOO puffy. They should be flatter.
The main should be smoother. The new one looks very knotted.
The face should be kinder looking. Cuter and a bit more like a box like the Shetlands now.

Update Shetland

Now Shetland

Agreed. The liver chestnuts do look like dark bays - I can't tell them apart in the slightest.

Also, the mouse grays still have a purplish hue to them.

Most of the dapple grays don't have that beautiful dappling anymore - that's WHY they are called dapple grays.

The new coat is also suspiciously missing the natural dappling it's supposed to have as well. I looked them up earlier.

Like said by a few of us, at least they're trying, which is more than i can say about some other companies that produce online games... and at least we know they aren't just pocketing our cash like some other game companies too - they are actively trying to do improvements to try to keep us all happy, and at least they listen about what we'd like to see on the game... they may not do it perfectly, but they do try. We have to give them credit on that even if we are all bemoaning some of the new graphics (like I am lol).

Thank you howrse for trying to give us what we want. Better luck next time you update the coats.
By Retired breeder, March 19, 2014 01:22:20
I personally dislike the new coats in every way.

I dislike change too, but the more i look at them, the more they are growing on me. It may be a little difficult to adjust and tell them apart at first, but they'll eventually grow on us all.

Does it mean I think the graphics are accurate? Nope. Does it mean I like them all? Nope.

Change is always difficult. What they should do is give us a choice between the new graphics and the old graphics, kinda like they did the first time they updated the coats back in 2007 or 2008.

I also hope the visible tack is optional. I like the idea of it, but a lot of people don't. Of course, they'd have to do the horse parade with the new update. *sigh* Ah well, hopefully I'll get enough points to hopefully get a foundie, and hopefully, I'll find a foundie mate for it in direct sales from someone hoping to make a ton of quick equus, if each prize triples like it usually does.

I have to say that I will like anything that changes the Hano, KWPN, IH etc. coats. I hate them now. The head angle is awkward and they just look so dimwitted. Hanos were my favorite breed on V1, and the current look is why I didn't start with them this time around. Glad they are being redone.
By Retired breeder, March 19, 2014 01:34:17
I agree. The coats will take a bit of getting used too, but I’ll probably grow to like them. I think they’re not so nice now, but in time...

I am sorry you feel that way. I have always found change, in any game, to be a frustration for people. It used to frustrate me a lot too. I finally told myself 'Give it a chance, if you do not like it after two months or so /then/ you can go on complaining' *cough*vetfees*cough* Games these days are made to be dynamic and changing, otherwise they never draw in new players, and no new players means no growth.

Hehe, yes, I think everybody hates vetfees. I cannot think of one person who does.

I'm usually pretty open to change, and usually I like the changes after analyzing them a littledefault smiley (y).
